I've been working on some lineup optimization stuff to see what it would say about the 2025 Phillies lineup since it seems Rob Thomson has not yet decided who will lead off as of now.

Here is what was generated as being the top 24 lineups ranked by runs per game using 2025 projections.

Cristopher. Sanchez.

I mean what the hell was that

What an absolutely dominant first inning

The Donovan Walton of this all is interesting since he is a LHH. Makes sense since you did need another player that can play SS, and most likely means stott is playing every day now.

Would prefer to not see much of Walton in a Sosa SS platoon

Just experienced an unbelievable amount of disappointment when I switched channels only to find that Pat McAfee is on BOTH broadcasts

Minor league broadcasts vary a lot in quality, but the Syracuse broadcast is talking about how Andrew Painter has no good secondaries and could maybe be a big leaguer if he develops one lol

It is absolutely hilarious that there has never been good audio for a single ESPN in game interview.

Like seriously, how have they not figured this out yet?

They can spin this any way they want but again dumping Mookie Betts and Chris Sale for similar light returns just hammers home that this was all about money and not wanting to pay it
PerRed Sox sources: the team's feeling was that a $313.5M contract comes with responsibilities to do what is right for the team and that Devers did not live up to those responsibilities.

They had enough and they traded him.

This is exactly what happens when you have to hire your 6th choice gm because of your own organizational incompetence

Denzel Clarke is absolutely insane
CATCH OF THE YEAR - Denzel Clarke goes wayyyyy over the fence to rob a HR from the Angels' Nolan Shanuel

I’ve been skeptical about how Kemp’s profile will translate to the majors but this move had to be made.

Really happy for Kemp though, I’ve seen him play a bunch live and he’s a really nice guy. Great story and a Phillies player dev success

Some Phillies stuff here about Jose Rodriguez, who was with Reading last year when he got suspended for gambling.

Sounds like he is back in the org and the team has 10 days to decide to keep him, 30 days to assign him to an affiliate.

They were suspended for betting on baseball. Now their teams are welcoming them back

Jeff Hoffman and Jordan Romano who? In the real former Phillie showdown Carlos De La Cruz just hit a walk off home run against Reading for the second day in a row

It's pretty baffling that Bryson Stott is still hitting leadoff for the Philies after being pretty bad for an entire month.

It made sense when Bohm was struggling, but you just can't afford have somene with an OBP barely above .300 leading off the majority of the time.

Tonight Andrew Painter and Mick Abel are pitching on the same day for the first time since 8/6/2022, when they pitched both games of a doubleheader while teammates on the
Blueclaws

Probably have a little over a month until they are teammates again.

Evenful first inning for Andrew Painter. allowed a solo homer and a walk, but got 2 strikeouts on nasty curveballs
June 4, 2025 at 10:59 PM
A savant page isn't everything, but this is a really good view of Otto Kemp's first 2 months.

He does a lot of damage when he makes contact, but he just has so much swing and miss that it's hard to envision him making enough contact to be viable against MLB stuff.

Aidan Miller just CRUSHED a homer for Reading. His 5th of the season
May 30, 2025 at 11:41 PM
Johan Rojas had a bunch of BABIP regression coming his way after his first month, but in May he is hitting the ball in the air WAY more and pretty much never pulling the ball when he does.

Not going to have many batted balls fall in for hits when you're doing that.

Andrew Painter's day is done after 5 innings and 81 pitches. He got touched up a bit by Colton Cowser and Jordan Westburg who are in Norfolk on rehab, allowing 2 runs in the 5th.

Fastball velo was up to 99.2, the hardest pitch he's thrown in AAA

After being so bad in spring training that the Angels DFA’d him. Scott Kingery is going back to the majors.

His AAA numbers are really good, but all of his under the hood is really bad (ton of chase and whiffs, not a lot of hard hit balls.

Don’t really see him sticking there

Not saying a promotion is imminent but Christian Arroyo who has played majority 1B for the Ironpigs is missing from the lineup tonight.

He is at least on my radar because of his June 1st opt out if he is not promoted and seems to be behind Kemp and Buddy for a RH bat call up
May 28, 2025 at 8:15 PM
Tonight is Bohm’s first time hitting higher than 6th since he hit 4th on April 9th.

Since that time in 162 PAs

.300/.340/.440 and a wRC+ of 117.

He’s been good pretty much since the day was dropped in the lineup
May 27, 2025 at 8:53 PM
Runners on 1st and 2nd and no out and Ben Davis can’t figure out why the batter isn’t bunting???

He might be even more cooked than I thought

Mentioned this earlier this week, but not surprised to see stott is the one that gets a lefty on lefty start this week
Looking like the Phillies are facing 3 lefty starters this week. Will be very interesed to see if the guys that have been platooned for most of the season will sit all 3 games.
