The millennial experience is growing up with the internet, and watching it go from a free, open, democratic, and eclectic ecosystem to a wasteland of five websites controlled by billionaires, and now seeing it quickly fill up with AI-generated slop.

I want our World Wide Web back.
i don't want to hear your most boomer complaint. what's your most millennial complaint?

This roll of film has travelled from fridge to fridge in the family since it expired in 1997. Came out better than expected when I used it around campus back before the weather got really cold

Wherever I go on the internet, sooner or later Horse Etymology finds me
The story also goes that marshals and mares are related to Chinese ma 馬 (horse < OC *mraːʔ), Mongol mori ᠮᠣᠷᠢ, Japanese uma 馬, Korean mal 말 etc. However, this is contested and there are problems with these identifications. Eurasian horse word etymology is a huuuuge field.

This kind of thing is what I come online for and, incidentally, also why all discussion of phonology and linguistics got banned in our household…
Did you know? All three basic Mandarin pronouns have irregular historical developments.

More interesting: All three give the appearance of being frozen in time — preserving ancient pronunciations.

Just so this page doesn't look too empty.... here's a picture I took in Northumberland last autumn, then took a year to get developed (because sometimes I like to make life hard for myself and take analogue photos - this one was on Kodak Pro Image 100)
