Chris photos on Springwatch are fantastic, however can you please remind viewers to be responsible while taking photos.

We have problems with photographers at the moment disturbing Long- Eared Owl nest sites in Gateshead. Even a report if drones being flown over a nest.

I photographed this Northern Wheatear in Shropshire on the 17th but couldn't read it in the field with my bins and sadly can't read it from the photo. If you visit Mitchell's Fold, do look out for it, but likely to have moved on. Haven't traced the scheme yet, suggestions welcome

Here's a cautionary tale... Yesterday afternoon I spotted an Iceland Gull, asleep amongst Herring Gulls. Distant (2 fields over) but looked fairly typical to my untrained eyes.

I returned in the evening and it was much closer, feeding in a roadside field. 🤔

Exciting to receive our first Motus ‘ping’ of a recently tagged Jack Snipe on its return migration. After spending time in the #LDV it moved rather quickly across the North Sea and pinged three masts in Germany, and is the first German recovery of a BTO ringed Jack Snipe @yorkbirding.bsky.social

Dogs need to be excluded from many nature reserves, too many owners are irresponsible/entitled. Caught this dog on trail cam at Monks Wood NNR, chasing Roe Deer deep in a woodland block. There's signs requiring dogs on leads, which dogwalkers ignore & vandalise.
