The last day of January saw 4 Barnacle Geese and 1 dark-bellied Brent Goose on the seawatch while 2 Short-eared Owl and Woodcock were at RSPB Bempton.

Bigger seas still @flamboroughbird.bsky.social in face-numbingly strong easterly winds resulted in an enjoyable seawatch: ten White-fronted Geese south, 1 Velvet Scoter, 1 Puffin, 3 Little Auks north & 2 Blue Fulmars.

The roosting goose flock included 12 Tundra Bean Geese and 48 White-fronted Geese, seawatching had Puffin, Blue Fulmar and Caspian Gull while 3 Short-eared Owl and 5 Woodcock graced RSPB Bempton.

With only a handful previously this winter, it was nice to see a reasonable flock of Russian White-fronted Geese yesterday @flamboroughbird.bsky.social when 34 appeared out of the gloom, alighted briefly and then headed south across the headland.
