A terrible loss for Philly. Our deepest condolences to all who knew and loved journalist Dan McQuade, including his wife, Jan, a PFT member. www.inquirer.com/obituaries/d...
Dan McQuade, award-winning writer, tireless community activist, and ‘Philadelphia institution,’ has died at 43
Often irreverent, always inventive, he filed memorable stories about the Wildwood T-shirt scene, Wawa hoagies, the Philly accent, and other cool stuff. His stories sparkled with research and humor.

Friday v Thursday. What changed? 🤷🏾

This school should have been closed after pipes burst last weekend. The quick transformation after news reports on dangerous conditions in schools yesterday illustrates what the District is capable of when they choose to prioritize students and staff.

Much love to the rural Minnesotans helping THEIR neighbors, too.

Bears repeating that while Minneapolis gets the most attention, it's exactly the same situation in St. Paul and very similar in many suburbs and smaller towns around the state (and, obviously, outside MN)
Rural Minnesota isn’t staying silent.

As ICE expands raids into small towns, neighbors, faith leaders, and students are stepping up to protect Somali communities and each other.

Today's #RedFridays reminder from Childs Elementary that no matter what is happening in the city or nation, even in times of tragedy & fear, our members show up for students with dedication & joy. Schools must be safe, sacred spaces for young people to learn, build friendships, & grow. #PhlEd

IN SOLIDARITY #ICEout
The targeting of 22 community members will not deter us from continuing to show up for one another and protect our fellow Minnesotans.

We look out for each other here. And we're not going to stop. #iceoutmn #iceoutschools

@pft.org members are the most dedicated educators. They showed up to work today even though many streets and sidewalks are still covered with giant piles of icy snow, and were greeted with freezing classrooms and busted plumbing.

Tomorrow must be a remote learning day.

The decision to resume in-person learning should have been made if building conditions were acceptable. Students shouldn't have to deal with dangerous, unshoveled walkways or lack of heat. We are escalating hazardous building conditions to the District and demanding accountability. #PhlEd
