Sandy Denny - The North Star Grassman and the Ravens (1971) Island Remasters CD
In hindsight, 2005 or thereabouts seems to be the high watermark of the CD reissue era. So many great works of art made available for a tenner. Beautiful packaging. Sleeve notes. Great sound. We were spoiled.

Gary Higgins - Red Hash (1973)
Lost classic alert.
Tuning out all the horrible noise of the world with this beautiful 2005 Drag City reissue. Sublime.

Teenage Fanclub - Grand Prix (1995) LP
2018 Sony reissue. Very tidy pressing of a great album - for my money, it's their best long player.

Never mind all the charm and talent. That much of Isiah is always onscreen and utterly obvious.

Instead, a last word to let everyone know what isn't evidenced on film: He was an even better person than he was an actor; a warm and gracious delight of a man. Goodbye, friend.
"Whitlock didn’t steal scenes as much as he elevated them, becoming a part of the fabric of storytellers like David Simon and Spike Lee, who knew exactly how to use this stealthy genius,” writes @briantallerico.bsky.social in his tribute to the late Isiah Whitlock Jr.
A Brilliant Actor and Even Better Person: Isiah Whitlock Jr. (1954-2025) | Tributes | Roger Ebert

Scott Walker in 5 Easy Pieces (2003) boxed set
Genuinely can't remember if the idea of 5 themed CDs worked* but I guess I'll find out over the course of this chilly morning.

Delta - Slippin' Out (2025) Circuitry LP
Late Christmas present to myself. First time on vinyl, 25th anniversary 2LP reissue of the former Sea Urchins' 'lost' classic debut. Put together with real care - and housed in a far less dreary sleeve.
Indie kids of a certain age, treat yo self!

A great way to celebrate David Bowie if you’re in London this Saturday. An afternoon of talks and events @foylesforbooks.bsky.social. Conveniently located in the centre of Bowie’s West End/Soho universe.
