I think a lot of Joel On Software's discussion of "let's rewrite it" vis-a-vis Excel. The shortcomings of existing OSs aren't inevitable, but they usually exist for some real reason, and sometimes that reason isn't trivial.

I'm not literally saying "better things can't exist" but commenting on the psychology of "the thing that doesn't exist is DEFINITIONALLY BETTER than anything that does", which is definitely the vibe that you see happen quickly in some of these discussions.

The only thing anyone has seen @neuropantser.bsky.social do is attack the people who are fighting ICE. He's made it pretty clear which side is he on, boy, which side is he on. He's on ICE's side. So just laugh at his cosplay and move on.
