Reading old computer graphics white papers is super fun because every so often you come across the most liminal, weird looking images. Like this one from 1983.

I found out it's from an ancient CGI titled "Sunstone" (1979). It's quite the trip to watch it.

ooo it's so interesting seeing how dual quaternion splines solve extreme rotational differences!

I made it prefer the shortest path within the quaternion double cover, so when control points pass the 180 degree switch with its neighbors, the path also changes its shape!

I would never do this in a professional setting, but bad commit messages in personal repos bring me a certain delight unlike anything else

The sculpt is done, so now it's time to go away from Zbrush and back to Blender. Time for some hand retopo.

I feel like a realism high enough in a game world, executed greatly to match the real world, often breaks suspension of disbelief in both players with little knowledge of art, and those with a high degree of art / 3D background.
It's a rather interesting phenomenon.
Reading comments under this video and elsewhere , I wonder if DF should do a "this is how real life lighting phenomenon work" video. In spite of people visually orientating themselves daily in the real world, there is a supreme lack of intuitive knowledge about how light and materials function.
We finally have our very first, albeit somewhat strange look at one part of AMD's FSR Redstone: Ray Regeneration. In this video I talk about my first impressions, how it compares to Nvidia Ray Reconstruction, and how it might be different than expected. Enjoy!

I just uploaded the final video in the YouTube tutorial course I've been making the past months. 5-6 months, tons of recording sessions, 23 videos in total. I'm very happy.
Next time I might try to make a shorter course, something that's not nearly as giant as learning topic.

As someone new to YouTube, with less than 500 subs, sometimes it feels like uploads don’t get seen by many real people. So when I get a comment like the one below it really makes my day. 💙 I hope people enjoy the art and the tutorials.

I logged into WoW and got 21st Anniversary achievement. The first one I ever got was their 6th. That was 2010. Makes me feel old and like I'll crumble into dust any minute now.

The best part of working with proprietary Blender tooling (or a proprietary game engine) is that anything that gets in your way is just one jira ticket away from a polish or a redesign. Working as an artist and having direct channels to tech art programmers is just freeing and amazing. I'm grateful.
