Former J. Barabas Mens Wear, 1725 W. Chicago Ave., Chicago. The building was built in 1925, Worthmann & Steinbach, architects.
Mostly glass storefront with black vitrolite (I think) across the top and cool Art Deco lettering that says "CHICAGO MENS WEAR" "J. BARABAS." Above the sign some of the beige terra cotta that covers the entire facade of the building is visible, including wreaths, flowers, and egg and dart decoration. The outstanding terrazzo entrance to the store in black, white, and red stripes and checkerboard pattern. In the center is a circle containing a white shirt and black bow tie, white gloves, black top hat, and black cane. The address, 1725, is inside a black shield at the front of the entrance and below that, in red, it says BARABAS.

New American Record in the marathon for Connor Mantz!!!

Chicago is the fastest marathon in the world. I love this city
Conner Mantz makes HISTORY in Chicago with a 2:04:49 fourth-place finish, the fastest time ever run by an American. Mantz breaks Khalid Khannouchi's 23-year-old American record of 2:05:48, as well as the all-conditions best of 2:04:58 set by Ryan Hall in 2011.

One-story brick cottage nestled against a large brick church. The cottage is of red brick and has a gable roof. There are two windows at ground level, two on the first floor, an a small arched window in the gable.

2900 W. Belmont, Chicago. A feast for the eyes and good burgers, too. Building permit issued in 1896, when the address was 329 W. Belmont.
Elaborately decorated 3-story corner building faced with red and yellow brick and stone accents. There is a two-story turret on the corner, perhaps made of pressed metal with a domed roof topped with a whale weather vane. The turret and the cornice, decorated with dentils and corbels, is painted a terra cotta color. The sign on the side above the first floor window says "Kuma's Corner." I wish I had better words to describe it because it really is a gingerbread delight. From the Tribune 1896: building permit issued to Gust Behling for a 3-story and basement, with store, brick flats. Cost: $3,800.
