That’s not a personal failure — it’s by design. The EU wants to curb it. Big Tech is #lobbying hard to keep you hooked.

@crtl-alt-reclaimfr.bsky.social started out as a small bootcamp in Summer'24 - bringing together young people from around Europe who wanted to do something about the harm that social media was doing to young lives. Now it’s a pan-European movement, see Guardian:

Today's €2.95 bn fine against Google is a start, but is not enough. Big Tech shrugs off fines as just the cost of maintaining their toxic monopolies.

But good the door is still open for tougher remedies. The EU Commission MUST finish the job and break up Google. www.politico.eu/article/eu-s...

Google's monopoly power rips off consumers, pollutes our information environment, and destroys the news media.

Today's €2.95 billion fine is a start, but won't touch Google's toxic ad-tech monopoly. The EU @ec.europa.eu must hold firm and now break up Google. www.politico.eu/article/eu-s...

NEW: Over half of social media users across France, Germany and Spain would prefer to use European-based platforms. Only 4-5% in those countries would prefer to use US based platforms.

Our YouGov polling shows definitively that Europeans want alternatives to the dominant US social media giants.

🚨 NEW POLL: roughly TWICE as many people in France, Germany & Spain want the EU to break up Big Tech giants, as those who don't.

@ec.europa.eu will soon decide whether to dismantle Google's toxic adtech monopoly. Will it listen to EU citizens and #BreakUpBigTech?

Instagram suspended @eswa-network.bsky.social without warning or explanation, on the eve of Int'l Sex Workers’ Rights Day. This was unacceptable censorship of a human rights network. Even though the account has now been reinstated, it should never have been suspended in the first place.
