Not a soul in sight all the way down the beach! A crooked time worn wooden log fence leaning sideways & held together with heavy wire shows us the way as we head down the sand and around the corner. A patch of green moss growing on the side of a stone fence has little sporophytes sporting green sporangia with translucent opercula at their tips. The thin sporophyte stem is reddish and fades to a translucent green, the sporangium is like a small, long green barrel, and the operculum is like a green water drop at the tip of of the sporangia. The leafy stems, called gametophytes, are very green and wet.
