Today is the birthday of artist Dave Cockrum (Nov. 11, 1943-Nov. 26, 2006). Creator or cocreator of Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Thunderbird, Wildfire, Mystique, the Starjammers, the Imperial Guard, Magik, & much more!

Quindrie Press has been a creative force and constant inspiration. This is once more confirmation of the stunning talent and hard work that is getting plummeted by an impossible economy crisis. Riding us of small publishers & comic creators that in a different market would be healthy and growing.
I have made the incredibly difficult decision to close down Quindrie Press at the end of 2026. Please read my full statement, along with information about what's next at Quindrie and an FAQ, here: quindriepress.com/closing

Quindrie has made such a huge difference to so many small creators and the scene is definitely going to be different without it. However I do also think Scottish indie comics has been forever changed thanks to its creation and Eve’s tireless work. Please support small press wherever you see it.

Very sad to hear that our fellow Scottish comics publisher Quindrie Press is closing.
@evegwood.com has done brilliantly over the last few years to elevate marginal voices and push the medium of comics forward in this country.

Quindrie has made such a huge impact on my life and work as a comic artist, and such a massive positive change to the community. It's a real shame on the state of independent arts funding that Eve is having to make this decision, but i'm so grateful to them for everything Quindrie has done.

For me, personally, I always tell people with great pride that Quindrie was my first professional publisher. Knowing that Eve and Hari saw worth in my work, and were willing to put money and effort behind it to share with their audience always bolsters my confidence. Quindrie believed in me.

Quindrie Press made a very real and a very tangible difference for both creators and the community. Their loss will be immense.

Running a small press, and doing it properly, is incredibly hard. Quindrie will be a loss on the same level as ShortBox was, but as in that case we have been so lucky to have it.

Im gonna be real sappy about this bear with me.
When Quindrie press launched it shook my world. I loved Inhibit Eve’s webcomic for a while and getting to follow a project by them that had such a scale was exciting. The fact is Quindrie changed the way cartoonists in Scotland thought about comics. 🧵

This needs more attention: Zohran SPLIT the straights with Cuomo. ALL of his margin was from LGBTQ+ voters. Every Dem who ever said “we should abandon the transes” needs this shoved down their fucking throat with a ramrod.

BACKED!
Following on from this thread. I've got the go ahead from the other editors on THE BLEEDS to start a reocorring Indie comic spotlight segment. I'll update y'all when I know what form this takes
I do know that the people I see at cons and the people I see behind the scenes at cons care. An insane amount. You don't do this if you don't care. Not just about comics, but about creators. I think that we have a building momentum in Scotland but keeping it up is the challange.

I missed this panel at TAGS but I've chatted with @chrislaumanson.bsky.social about this on other occasions. I wanna add some thoughts:
I had a really good chat with @chrislaumanson.bsky.social and @tomhumberstone.com at TAGS Festival last weekend about what we, the independent comic community, can do to push our scene forward. A lot of what we discussed is UK- or world-wide rather than just pertinent to Scotland but I'll recap:
