We were watching The Martian again because, well, it was on, and what, are we NOT going to watch The Martian?
Anyway, I was thinking that, if they had really wanted to add tension to whether they were going to get Mark Watney back or not, that's the role they should have cast Sean Bean in.

You know a baseball season is tight when, at the end, you can pick out a specific bad decision by a fielder that may have turned out to be the difference between making the playoffs and not.
Of course, not starting toast at first base for three months could have made that irrelevant, too.
