If you're wondering about my fixations over the last year, btw, they were: - Cartoons from 40 years ago - Sci fi from 50 years ago - All 90s Star Trek - WH40K as it was in 2002 - Mtg as it was in 2002 - D&D as it was in 2002 - Shitty 80s hard rock - Swedish bands that sound like shitty 80s hard rock
Lately all my special interests are things that are extremely not easy to share with other people. Media with abandoned or (sometimes literally) dying fandoms, music that's neither classic not popular, fairly niche linguistic stuff, long-discontinued editions of games, etc. 🧵

Trying to round out my custom Magic set with some filler cards. Low cost creatures, spells, etc. It's kind of a challenge to figure out a bunch of flavourful and worthwhile cards within the design limits I set for myself.

I put years of effort to make peace with knowing that I'd only ever make bad art and I'm not going to let anyone claim it's not worth the effort to make.

It's always fun when the Russians are in Stargate, firstly because the accents are always so terrible, but also just in how much O'Neill fucking openly hates them even though they never do anything even a tenth as bad as the NSA or whatever. Dude is just really xenophobic.

Watching some old TV and I feel like something significant happened in the field of TV set lighting between, broadly, the early and late 1980s. Does anyone here know more about this?

British libs spent a lifetime upholding drug abstinence as an ideal for leaders while insisting they pursue only the most punitive criminal policies, but suddenly a lefty rising in the polls says he's sober and the switch flips in their brains, and they all start demanding he do coke on live TV.

Since I'm resurrecting a bunch of obsolete terms for this, I'm going to try a little experiment (with ungainly reminder text) by bringing back world enchantments, last printed in 1997, with a twist that wasn't in the original rule. I don't know if this is workable at all. Any thoughts?

The wildest thing about the first ever human ever to try riding a horse is the second human to try riding a horse, even after seeing what happened to the first guy.

Rachel Reeves: "It is not right that people who don't go to university bear the cost for others to." I don't use local leisure centres and I don't drive, so will I be made exempt for taxation that pays for all that stuff? Or is it only education we'll be going after

I'll never be an MP so I don't think taxes should pay for their salaries.
Had a good long rant in therapy yesterday about how so much as declaring oneself as trans instantly collapses your presumption to be a private individual. Every fucker needs to know what utility you now have in their own personal story.

The conclusion to stuff like this shouldn't be so much that the cruel march of the years has transformed us all into withered crones, so much as that our perception of time over the last 20+ years has been suddenly compressed from fewer milestones in consumer tech and media.
Next year the PlayStation 3 will be older than the NES was when the PS3 launched.

Alright, the time has come to start sharing my custom MtG designs, which means irritating everyone with the clunky pseudo-pre-8th edition formatting and stubborn refusal to use any of the fun card types.
But I do have rares, at least.
