That’s why “blue Labour” is doomed and was doomed from the start: you cannot make water run uphill. A party whose core electorate for over a decade has been socially liberal university graduates and ethnic minorities cannot sell itself as a party hostile to socially liberal values.

Today is the beginning of Trans Awareness Week.

It’s an opportunity for us to celebrate trans people, acknowledge the challenges they face, and reflect on how we as a society can work together to improve trans people’s lives.

The government must remove Robbie Gibb from the BBC board immediately – and end the practice of political appointments, which so badly undermines the BBC, altogether.

Thank you being a sane voice in the media. Elsewhere the same voices are arguing to keep the massive salaries for CEOs and managers in large private companies. Strange how the NHS could run without management but in private companies they're worth millions.

NHS Admin are a valuable part of the team, without them clinical systems grind to a halt. They schedule lists, book appointments, chase contractors, equipment & orders. They are the unseen & often unthanked backbone of the service. To my former colleagues, once again going through this, stay strong

Lobbyists for Big Tech now outnumber MEPs

On average, there are 3 meetings a day between Big Tech lobbyists + senior EU figures. Meanwhile an NGO fighting to stop people's water supplies being hoovered up by data centres will wait months to get a single meeting.

A fascinating listen 👇
💸 Do you know how much money Big Tech is spending on lobbying in Brussels? How has this amount been increasing? On what is the money being funnelled to and what can we do about it?

In 2023, the Labour party supported mandating swift bricks, whipping FOR the swifts brick amendment. 2 years later, the same Ministers in charge of Housing put a 3 line whip (the most extreme block) AGAINST swift bricks. Listen to the strength of support in this powerful speech.

What on earth was the reason for the 3 line whip to vote this down? The Labour party supported the swift brick amendment when it was tabled on Conservative government legislation in 2023. Why has it gone from supporting swift bricks in opposition to imposing a 3 line whip to block them in government
