I like comics, and I'm a charter member of the Kieron Dwyer fan club. In other comic news: FINISH BLACK MONDAY MURDERS OR WE RIOT.

My two favourite baseball teams are the Red Sox and whoever is playing the Yankees.

I hate that we're losing our elders while simultaneously losing what they fought for.

Shazam

My only comic with him in it, apparently.

Shaaaaaaaaaaa-ZAM!

Sometimes you just need to look at some BIG Jack Kirby art.

That American flag pocket square is really pathetic.

I've heard Quesada tell this story in person, and it's on my list of basic anecdotes I also use to try and impart fundamentals of comic storytelling to folks. In my own idiom, it's space is meaning, but go read this - I'm excited to see Joe promise more like this.

I have bought gorgeous comics that, when read, scarcely made sense.
All that effort, and not getting the story across.

In my world, that's a tragedy :)

I reckon so, yeah.

The other thing that cannot be overstated is whatever the hell Cable is wearing. Imagine walking into the living room wearing that and saying, "Okay, I'm ready. Let's go."

Show me your 10 favorite superhero costumes!

Day 2: Wolverine

Most iconic era look that got ditched for a costume that looks high res so other hunters won't shoot him🙄

I'm not sure how it would hold up for someone reading it for the first time now, but Ghost Rider was really must-read stuff back then. Protagonist surrounded by mystery, brand new villains....such great stuff.

Great cover, at least. More fodder for my opinion that making MCP a dedicated Wolverine lead instead of a rotating mutant lead was such a terrible thing for this book.

#JanCharacterCover (Day 11): The Joker

Yeah, bought each cover of Robin II by Chuck Dixon, because using early 90s underwear gnome logic, I was gonna be rich. And so began my disdain for variant covers. Not too fond of lazy gimmick covers, either.

And....added to wish list
P. Craig Russell covered the one-shot Dr. Strange: “What Is It That Disturbs You, Stephen?” (1997).

I agree with this assessment

Colossus by John Byrne. The competition is fierce but John's Colossus felt like 'organic steel', whatever that is. There's a malleable quality.
And a human one, he was tall and muscular but not hyper-exaggerated. You bought into these stories.
