Hi Bluesky! Proud to be in the PA Senate working for—and with—the people of Pennsylvania for safe streets, freedom of movement, housing for all, care for all, fully resourced public schools, true justice in our systems, respect and dignity for workers, and a healthy, livable climate. Let’s do it.
It’s #NationalPizzaDay, which for me means celebrating the delight of tomato pie: savory, saucy layers with a golden crust.

Who makes the best tomato pie in the First Senatorial District? 🍅

On Monday, Philadelphia attorney and activist Michael Coard was granted access to the secret location where the feds have stashed the slavery exhibit that was ripped down on January 22nd. In this conversation, he reveals what he saw and explains why the removal matters far beyond Philadelphia.

Last week, we watched in horror as the Trump Administration dismantled the memorial. So we're taking action.

Our resolution is in solidarity with the City of Philadelphia, which appeared in federal court this morning in an effort to return the exhibit to Independence Mall.

I'm proud to have introduced a resolution alongside my fellow Democratic Senators from Philadelphia to condemn the cowardly dismantling of the President’s House Memorial—a commemoration of the nine Black men and women enslaved by President George Washington.

ICE OUT is more than a slogan—it's a concrete legislative plan to protect everyone who lives in and visits our city from a masked militia. I’m proud to join Councilmembers Brooks and Landau, legislators, and community allies in demanding a safe and welcoming city for all. #ICEOut of Philly NOW!
New proposed legislation from City Council could restrict the actions of ICE agents in Philadelphia, including barring officers from wearing masks and using unmarked vehicles.

Philly councilmembers want to enshrine “sanctuary” status and ban ICE masking
Proposal to restrict ICE activities could clash with mayor’s non-confrontational approach.

Federal agents are executing Americans in the streets. None of us are safe in a police state.

Abolish ICE.
January 24, 2026 at 9:26 PM
In cities and towns and communities across the country, Americans have shown up and spoken out to condemn ICE’s violence and protect their neighbors.

In the wake of a second murder in Minneapolis by ICE agents, we need immediate action and accountability. Congress must dismantle and abolish ICE.

The President’s House exhibit was a sacred memorial that rendered visible the lives of people who shaped our country amidst their violent enslavement by its leaders. Let Trump’s attempt to erase our country’s past fortify our work for freedom and justice.
The Trump administration tore down 400 years of Black history in Philadelphia. So what happens now?

As federal agents increasingly use force against residents, states must take every action possible to uphold the constitutional rights guaranteed to everyone on US. soil. That’s why Sen. Comitta and I introduced legislation to allow Pennsylvanians to challenge federal abuses of power in state court.

AveArts 2.0 shows us that we can have a city that is culturally magnetic, broadly accessible, and environmentally resilient. We need not choose between these qualities. Rather, we build it block by block.

Thank you to all who helped this vision bloom!

Too many families are living in homes owned by some distant investor who treats them like a paycheck instead of people. This is the result of a system that subsidizes corporate landlords while everyday people struggle to find a safe, stable place to call home. (1/2)

Last week, the House passed a bill to restore ACA subsidies and prevent 20 million Americans from being priced out of their healthcare. Now, it's on the Senate to finish the job.

But we can't stop there––we have to fix our broken healthcare system and pass Medicare for All.
