UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

Donald Trump and Republicans believe the affordability crisis in America is made up.

That’s why these extremists haven’t done a damn thing to lower the high cost of living.

You deserve better.

This Veterans Day, join me in honoring the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans.

In Congress, I’ll continue working to ensure that all our veterans receive the care and benefits they have earned.

New Argentina just dropped.

Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán says the U.S. will provide a “financial shield” as he struggles to win reelection

Meanwhile Trump President said last week “I don’t want to hear about affordability” as health care premiums explode & food/energy prices rise.

🎯
Republicans CONTROL the House, Senate and White House.

They have the POWER to lower costs and save health care.

They are CHOOSING not to do any of that.

This “deal” is an empty promise and a betrayal to the millions of Americans currently seeing a shutdown of their health care.

I’m a HELL NO if it comes to the House. And I encourage my Senate Democratic colleagues to stand strong and continue fighting to protect the ACA tax credits.

The House GOP has been on a taxpayer-funded vacation for the last 50 days.

As millions of Americans are facing a shutdown of their health care & millions more are struggling to put food on the table, this is not a game! It’s past time for Speaker Johnson to bring the House back into voting session.

Because of Trump and Congressional Republicans’ refusal to extend ACA tax credits, Pennsylvanians are seeing their health care costs more than double!
November 7, 2025 at 11:02 PM
From utility bills to grocery prices to health care costs — across the board, life is getting more expensive for everyday Americans.

And Trump’s message is “I don’t want to hear about affordability.”
Trump: "I don't want to hear about the affordability, because right now we're much less. If you look at energy, we're getting close to $2 a gallon gasoline."

This is disgusting. If the Trump administration WANTED to fully fund November SNAP benefits, they could and would.

As one SE Pennsylvania small business owner said: “I have [employees] that are looking at having health insurance now going up to be over $1,000…. That is absolutely insane.” (1/2)
PA small businesses may lose coverage if ACA tax credits expire
Unless Congress acts, enhanced Affordable Care Act premium tax credits will expire at year’s end, leaving small businesses in Pennsylvania and across the country bracing for higher health care costs.

It’s been an honor to work alongside Nancy Pelosi, a tenacious and steadfast fighter who never backed down and always put working Americans first.

Thank you, Madame Speaker, for everything.

Trump promised to lower prices on “day one.”

So far, he’s given huge tax cuts to billionaires, RAISED prices for Americans with his tariff-taxes, sent a $40 billion bailout to Argentina, and renovated a bathroom.

But sure, he'll focus on affordability next year…

Republicans control the White House, the House, and the Senate. And because of their inaction and incompetence, we are in the longest shutdown in US history.

America deserves better than this. (1/2)

Last night’s results show it’s time to put down the ballroom plans and pick UP the phone.

Tell the USDA to FULLY fund November’s SNAP benefits - now. Then Mr. Art of the Deal should call House & Senate Democratic leaders to meet with him and NEGOTIATE an end to this shutdown.
November 5, 2025 at 4:15 PM
As I said at yesterday’s press conference- Speaker Johnson needs to reconvene the House after 46 days away and let us get back to work!
November 4, 2025 at 11:44 PM
Hours before this, Trump threatened to keep withholding SNAP benefits illegally.

Trump can FULLY release SNAP funds right now - millions of hungry children, seniors, veterans, and disabled Americans can't wait as his administration continues to play these political games.
Q: Trump wrote that SNAP benefits will only be given when Democrats reopen the government. As written, how would that not violate the court order?

LEAVITT: I've now answered this question several times. We are complying with the court's order

Senate Democrats tried to pass a resolution pressuring the Trump administration to FULLY fund November SNAP benefits.

Senate Republicans shot it down- allowing Trump to continue treating hungry Americans as political pawns during this #GOPShutdown. It’s shameful.
