We can put it in the balance against all the pro-employment policies the government has. Like… um… raising NI, reducing the threshold, raising the minimum wage, Rayner’s employment bill…
Higher taxes on gambling probably would cost some jobs. But employment has to be weighed against other social costs.

That's why we don't have brothels and ketamine stores on every high street. It was a terrible mistake to let gambling shops become such big employers.

Betfred says all its shops may close if Reeves hikes gambling tax
The company's co-founder says it would be forced to close all its sites, putting 7,500 jobs at risk, if gambling taxes go up.

People see Australian style and think it means putting immigrants on a south sea island…
All very amusing, but especially this:

"The most popular was an “Australian-style points-based immigration system,” with a net 46 percent support. The least popular was “Britain’s current immigration policy,” with -39 percent support."

Brits are pining for the pre-Brexit migration system
The idea was that leaving the bloc would give the U.K. back “control” of its borders and create a fairer system. But the widespread perception is it didn’t turn out that way.

It would seem odd for a case that was not even arguable to have been granted leave to appeal, the requirement for which is that there is an arguable case of public importance.
I want to say this again, and clearly.

I spoke to three KCs, and we were formally advised by two, at Premier League sets who said FWS's case was clearly wrong, and one said not even arguable. 1/2

In 15,000 years? Nothing - woke won’t even be a blip. But we do still study the details of the arguments that split Constantinople between homoousios and homoiousios, so in 1500 years we may very well see theologians diligently learning all 170 genders
A thing I occasionally wonder: in 15000 years’ time, the Internet has vanished. Humanity has ridden out a civilisation-altering disaster in 2028-2080 (historians are unclear on what), and we have a society like our own, but slower. What on earth are people even going to think we meant by “woke?”
Surely at least somethings aren't caused by wokeness? Like just statistically there has to be at least one other thing capable of causing mishaps. I dunno, seems that way to me.
