The first part is a particular challenge. It isn’t just “progressives” who want to improve the fairness of the system; many “conservatives” share this goal. They just disagree as to what reforms would actually make things better.

I say lessened, because problems remain. Some feel that this is because the reforms need to be improved; better is still possible within our economic system. All that we need do is figure out what will work and then find the political will to implement it.
