There is less good in the world than its counterfeits, but even those may be bent into a useful shape. The process is not gentle.

That's solutionslop. You only like it because it fixes the problem.

Hmm? No, I don't have a *problem* with it, I just think it's gauche. You should conceal that kind of thing properly.
If she goes on like that, one day she'll stop getting away with it. Makes us all look bad.

People have been telling me I'm incredibly smart my whole life, and what that has taught me is that intellect alone is worthless. Thought without motivation or emotion or action can only torture you with knowledge you can't apply

Understanding is gained by *doing,* no matter how "smart" you are

A woman summoned a devil. She didn't prepare a lengthy contract, didn't look to anticipate loopholes, didn't angle to negotiate. Instead, she came with a simple request.

"I want to be loved until the end of my life."
"I can do that, but...are you sure?"
"I said what I said."

this is, imo, a much more useful framing than the overton window fwiw. a cone has a vertex (what someone thinks the world is like now) and a slope (how quickly and through what means movement between worlds is possible). worlds seen as unreachable through acceptable tactics become counterfactuals
imagining that there is a speed limit to progress creates a light cone of possible worlds

this cone is, for better and worse, easily penetrated by bullets
Literally everyone in power in the government is intellectually incapable of rotating the idea that abuse is bad and abusers cannot be allowed to have any authority in a healthy just society. Like if you pose the idea right in front of them it just creates a huge void in their visual field—invisible

i think a lot more societal problems can be fixed with video game logic than we are ready to discuss as a people
Pulling CPUs and RAM sticks out of AI datacenters will force them to close in the same way that removing a Sigil Stone does to an Oblivion Gate.

Moralists don't really *have* beliefs. Sometimes they stumble on one, like on a child's toy left on the carpet. The toy must be put away immediately. And the child reprimanded.

“Good” ? Presumably better before you compelled me to distort my raw experience into language !

fun date idea: we lie down on the floor and forget. we forget the layout of this room. of this building. we forget the name of the street we live on. we remember only the way the floor feels against our backs. and then we melt. into the floor. into the walls. we rediscover this place from the inside

Today is when "everyone in the world is doing something without you" has the strongest bite. We're glad it's not hunting us today, but thinking about those it is.
