I was recently laid off by ARTnews, a few days before the theft at the Louvre. The terms of my TN work visa means I can't freelance unless I donate the funds to charity. I'm open to new FT roles in business reporting and communications, and am willing to relocate to other cities, including Toronto.

My dad stayed in touch with several friends from university, they all got married, had kids, and some also have grandkids. Some of my dad's friends have known me since I was a baby, watched me grow up, and are closer than actual relatives. And I've called them "Auntie" and "Uncle" my entire life.

Sorry I refuse to entertain the complete non-existent world where white people don’t know that countless cultures, including some of their own but certainly diasporic racialized ones, call their mom’s cousin’s friend’s sister they grew up with “cousin” and call close women elders “aunt/auntie”

When I see people online, even in jest, suggest that people living in Republican-controlled states should be abandoned because of their politicians, I feel a deep heartache. New York CREATED Donald Trump and none of y’all are ever talk about it the way you disparage Alabama or Mississippi.

It doesn’t matter if you feed your kids organic foods, MAHA moms.

It doesn’t matter if you lift every day, bro.

It doesn’t matter how many supplements you consume.

When polio, diphtheria, measles, mumps, and whooping cough come a calling, all that matters is if you are vaccinated or not.

This is very awkward, but someone is impersonating me using the email karenkhowriter@gmail.com, contacting artists and asking them for money. Several artists have forwarded examples of the emails.

Important that we recognize the work of translators. They do so much to bring books into other languages, including pitching books and advocating for writers' work.

Without wishing to nag, I hope people agree that it's important to #namethetranslator when posting here about translated work.

I complain sometimes about how hard it is to reach customer service people and how understaffed most customer service seems to be these days.

But I want to add that if you get decent help somewhere, you really should fill out the survey and sing their praises. It helps decent people to thrive.

The education system harms far too many children.

And the incessant focus on grades and results, over wellbeing and preventing burnout, sets children up to being harmed, suffering from mental & physical health issues, and a lifetime of perpetual burnout.
