Looking up at thin-trunked naked winter trees from my hiking trail. The gray, black and brown trees look like they are reaching up gracefully towards the cloudy light blue sky. Moss and ferns are growing on the tree trunks here are there.

After our Iceland trip this emerged as one of my favourites. We were on our way out to the aircraft wreck but as a rain cloud swept in over the lava fields I thought it would provide some asymmetry to this otherwise symmetrical mountain. It was just a case of waiting for the right moment.

Through the organic arch of the wood, a wide expanse of sandy beach is visible, leading to the ocean where gentle waves roll towards the shore under a partly cloudy blue sky.
