I love it when you find a link to the Beatles, even if it's one step removed. Our family friend, Ian, is here on the right of the picture, speaking to John who was by all accounts swearing so much Granada couldn't use the sound on the footage they took.
A few years ago an old family friend, sadly no longer with us, sent me this photo. He's on the very right, talking with Mr Lennon at 1 Div HQ & Signal Regiment in Verden-Aller, North Rhein, Westphalia.

He described it as "One of the most memorable occasions in my life."

Thought this (old) post would do Bluesky numbers, but it just goes to show you can never predict what will be a 'Hot Ladder' Moment.

The ‘AI Overview’ from a Google search on streaming a film in Oz. Might be a little while yet until we have to welcome the robot overlords. Or is that what they want us to think?

We’re very hip and up to the minute in this household. You can tell by the fact that L’s reading a book from 1947 and I’m reading one from 1948.

A new favourite Evan Hunter sentence... "equally nude alligator" sounds like one of our podcast episode titles.

Should you want a (pretty much) definitive list of the works of Ed McBain / Evan Hunter to guide your collecting endeavours then I've just republished this online flipbook collector's guide.

FFO: Crime Fiction, Pulp Stories, American novels, 87th Precinct, Hitchcock
A couple of minor updates to the Evan Hunter / Ed McBain collectors guide (online flipbook).

(Because a short story only in UK version of a collection wasn't in my records!)

In the new Starfleet Academy there’s a joke about one of the characters not understanding that gazpacho soup is served cold. *Surely* a Red Dwarf reference?!

I’m having a marvellous weekend of cramping intestines and stomach pains. What a wonderful new experience and not at all a horrifying and upsetting thing.

Me, back on the McBain trail.
And we also have some more from #EdMcBain...

These four collections from the #NewEnglishLibrary were McBain edited collections of #crimefiction stories.

Each book has one McBain story, then a selection from the likes of Craig Rice, Ellery Queen, Fletcher Flora, Robert Bloch and more.

In the old days, on the other social media place/hellhole, I used to regularly get messages asking me when I'm bringing Shameless back despite the fact that my bio/face/content was clearly that of ME not HIM.
First episode of ‘Shameless’ was broadcast on this day 2004 with a cast including including David Threlfall and Anne Marie Duff. The writer was Paul Abbott.
