In our newest episode, we posit the idea that The Hollies would have made for a great cast of a gritty heist or gang drama.

I’ve released a lot of music and I’m gonna try and post one song a day from @bandcamp.com until I’m out of songs. Might be a while. Here’s ‘Crimble Medley’ - a track that mashes up 4 Beatles tunes into one Fahey-esque folky mess. tips and reskeets appreciated. 38/?

Len Barry's song is the only record across all of Season 4 that made it onto John Lennon's jukebox (at least the one he had at the end of 65 / early 66). "1, 2, 3" may not be the greatest song but it struck with John

HOO - and I don’t say this lightly - RAY!

(Also, Jason K is the guest on the current episode of the marvellous @goonpod.bsky.social with more George Martin related chat as well!)
Feels like a good day to announce the new season of Producing the Beatles. S2 E1 will be available Monday, 11/10. Set your podcast clocks! I can't wait to start sharing what I've been working on.

Fantastic write-up from Will of a fantastic gig from Robyn Hitchcock which I (Paul) was at the other week. I could listen to Robyn's in-between-song chat forever.

(My band, Good Grief, sometimes covers 'I Wanna Destroy You' and we love it.)

Len Barry looks like his photo has been taken just at the point that Sam Beckett has Quantum Leapt into his body.
And here's the players from this week's game of THE SIXTIES. The future? The past? The present?

Good morning and a very happy 1965 to you all.

We return with this week's look at the NME charts and there's three songs from this turning point year for us to get our teeth into. Listen, comment, share and review. Thanks!

I'm not going to share a screengrab, but I idly clicked on one of those supposedly 4K upscaled videos of the Beatles on Youtube - Washington Coliseum 'colorized' - all done by AI. The boys become a blurry mass of shifting, stretching faces, whilst the crowd is a grey mass of auton-like horrors.

We don't do Halloween specials (though there's some macabre stuff coming up in the next ep!) so why not listen to this now 5 year old episode of Paul's novelty song podcast all about Spooky stuff, with special guest @benbaker.bsky.social off of @alfsplaining.bsky.social

The Liverpool Echo referred back to that significant anniversary - 28th October 1961 (3pm, specifically!) when previewing Brian Epstein's Cellarful of Noise on 21st Nov 1964.

A couple of decisions and chance conversations (and just too many variables falling the right way to try and list) meant that Raymond Jones became one of the most important people in the history of pop music. It's worth reading @beatlesbible.com's short interview with him.
In 2010 we interviewed Raymond Jones about the purchase of the Beatles' My Bonnie that changed music history.

"The first time I saw The Beatles I was totally blown away. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and watching."

Good day to you all!

It's 1963 and in the pages of the NME you'll find *two* number ones that didn't make the top of the now official chart. Both songs written by the same team... who could they be? Hmm?
