went to my uncle's memorial today. 50% family, 50% dudes in pork pie hats. in addition to being an accomplished jazz bassist, he was chill as hell. it was always nice to have someone to talk to about boards of canada or whatever at family dinners. parkinson's sucks ass

I know it’s the accepted practice to use a reference track while mixing but in my experience it just makes me spiral about bow dogshit my mix is. one day I will release something that doesn’t sound flabby as hell

my dad’s been rewatching the lord of the rings movies and every once in a while when a character comes on screen I hear him whisper ‘saruman!’ or whatever in an exaggerated gandalf voice. as a teenager I would have thought that was so lame but as an adult I think it’s maybe his most endearing trait

every time I think I lost something and panic it’s because I didn’t follow my heuristic: look again in the first place you looked as thoroughly as possible, no matter how silly it seems. if that doesn’t work, widen the definition of ‘first place’. in this case from ‘sweater drawer’ to ‘all drawers’
