A first principles argument in favor of single payer healthcare

🧵👇
What is insurance?
Insurance takes the idea of people pooling money together so that individuals can withdraw from it to help pay if they end up in a costly, unfortunate scenario. It also exists to negotiate prices with those that provide services to its beneficiaries.

No member of Congress should vote for any appropriations if the whole exercise is a non-binding farce.
NEW: White House announces it's going to pause, and potentially cancel, $11 billion in infrastructure funding (via the Army Corps of Engineers), specifically citing cities, like New York, represented or led by Democrats. More to come.

Right. That’s not what is happening now. Must-read article.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

This was a seat where the NDP was running for reelection. But the NDP fell to third, and Conservatives easily picked it up:

So, uh, yeah. A ton of Dems just gave the Trump FTC more power to censor the internet. Great job guys.
Take It Down Act is a total censorial mess. And yet, a ton of "progressive" Dems are supporting it, even as it will enable the highly politicized and weaponized FTC to go after websites and demand content be removed from the internet. www.techdirt.com/2025/04/28/c...
