These people are not human. There is no other way I can explain this. Raiding churches on Thanksgiving and Christmas is inhumane.
"Agencies within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, including ICE, ERO, and CBP intend to implement a comprehensive plan to target Spanish-speaking churches across the country during the upcoming holiday season between Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, and Christmas, Dec. 25."
Exclusive: Trump DHS Plans Immigration Raids on Churches Over Holidays
The Trump Dept. of Homeland Security is briefing federal agencies on plans for immigration enforcement operations inside churches over holidays.

ICE is inherently lazy so they don't just take who they're looking for, they take anyone with them. In the raid on a mother and baby mentioned in the article, ICE wanted the previous occupants, but took residents because they were there.

I mean..... about Epstein not being a pedophile....this sums up the problem nicely.
For the party that claims democrats don’t know what a woman is, they seem to be having a lot of trouble defining what a child is.

There are a lot of clergy who haven't been wonderful humans, but when you're arresting ones who want to give communion to those locked up.....
What a photograph.

“Nearly two dozen arrested as faith leaders protested outside a federal immigration facility near Chicago…”

Arrested large amounts of peaceful clergy face first on pavement is a pretty good sign you’re not the good guys in the story. www.reuters.com/legal/govern...

I support Wikipedia because it is so vital. This organization has continued to create truthful work and repel right wing attempts at a takeover. Please help support them. I do! We need Wikipedia.
And your regular reminder that Wikipedia is the only reliable source of accurate and unbiased information that isn't controlled by right wing billionaires who are trying to control the narrative.

Please support them. Every little bit helps.

Yes I am upset about SNAP benefits, but what I’ve been upset about for a lot longer is that we have forgotten what a living wage is and that as a result there are 42 million Americans who relay on SNAP to get by. I know “we” didn’t forget, previous republicans AND democrat government enabled this.
Did You Know?…

Working “the standard” 40 hours per week won’t cover a *two* bedroom apartment in *any* state

Jesus, I can believe we need this but this is what a dictatorship looks like. Weaponizing law enforcement.
The New York Times publishes a handy guide to which federal forces are terrorizing us at any moment. This is America, 2025.

So, if Comey can be charged with lying to congress, can all the Supreme Court justices who said Roe vs Wade was settled case law also be persecuted for lying to congress?

I did now know Wilhoit’s Law but it’s what I’ve observed over the last 40 years in the United States.
Wilhoit’s Law:

"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: there must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."
Judge "You are going to jail"
"I'm rich."
Judge "Why didn't you say before! We can't have you going to jail, nudge, nudge, wink, wink"

I ❤️ the Oatmeal & whenever I get a new email it warms my heart. I always stop to read it. This sorta sums up what I've bn thinking abt AI. I actively avoid AI videos & pictures because I feel dirty watching them. But also, AI just doesn't do anything well. It doesn't write, analyze or advise well.

The Oregon Republican Party had to fake photos to try to justify troop deployments on social media. However, since there isn't anything to actually post, besides a hip gyrating frog forcing ICE to retreat into their compound, republicans had to make stuff up. So, business as usual for republicans.
The Oregon Republican Party tried to help Donald Trump make the case for military intervention in Portland with an image of a fiery protest — but since Portland is calm, they had to fabricate one by merging old photos of police in Ecuador and protesters in Brazil www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

I love this. Portland (anyone really) download a free book about how to be silly & protest at the same time. I can't believe this wasn't written by someone from PDX. Make Portland proud! Remember what Rose says: That's how we're going to win. Not by fighting what we hate, but by saving what we love.

Ok this helps me articulate why sentient computer feels wrong. It feels wrong because it is wrong.
It is morally wrong to want a computer to be sentient. If you owned a sentient thing, you would be a slaver. If you want sentient computers to exist, you just want to create a new kind of slavery. The ethics are as simple as that. Sorry if this offends

Well…idk what to say beyond….crap. I didn’t think it would ever come to this, but looks like it might be coming to this.

Julie Andrews is pretty much perfect no matter what she does. I can't believe she's 90 and I hope she never leaves us. She is magical. One of the small group of people who embody national treasure, or in her case, international treasure.

If I had to make a guess, it would be that trump is so confused that his team knows they can wind him up & send him off on the direction they choose by showing him what they want him to heat. I am wondering when we’ll hear they’ve started making their own newscasts to further hone their message

I just got the Merlin Bird app a couple weeks ago so I can sit on my porch and identify all the bird calls that I hear in #warravagedportland I heard goldfinches and then realized there were 6 together having a party on my roof.

So this ICE agent felt free to injure a woman in a hallway full of people and nothing happened? Do we allow recorded violence against women to happen now? Or just immigrant women? Makes me ill
I was back at 26 Federal Plaza today, where an ICE agent violently threw this bereft woman to the ground in front of her kids. She had not touched him. She did not pose any threat. She had to be taken to the hospital. (🎥: Elias Eliahu)

I didn't know much about this guy because I avoided him. I know he parroted the white house a lot. For example, after the white house tried to play down the Epstein files for the millionth time, this guy did the same. Reading these quotes, he's not a person I could respect.

Yes, this kind of work is necessary to understanding where we came from and where we could go if enough people are insane and deliberately vote in a fascist narcissistic wannabe dictator
This era shows why the academic work on settler societies (USA; Australia; South Africa), is so relevant to understanding the US today. We can have an inclusive democracy but it has a through-line of hatred & violence in defence of white masculine entitlement which is easy to activate at any point.

I read this yesterday. worth a read. It is about how JP Morgan lent Epstein an aire of credibility while being remarkably unconcerned about his pattern of spending that is classic human trafficking. I see no lies here. This happens in corporations too. They don’t hire a woman until everyone knows they’re going under and if she manages to save it she gets fired. The data is there. America trusts the worst men more than the best women. More than any woman.
