A big thank you to Lauren Plant on PBS this morning who played Hazey Jane I when the soft rain was passing overhead. I only landed on PBS because all the other stations were at the news, but I stayed there and will be tuning in next week

An 3MP top 500 songs of all time countdown from the late 80s is pretty good mental floss right now.

On December 11, 1936 The Three T's continued their broadcast residency at The Hickory House on West 52nd St in New York. Fortunately Frank Trumbauer had the broadcast recorded and the discs survived, so we can tune in on an 89 year delay. youtu.be/2oYTAf1gzMI?...

If you, like me, watched Arthur's Hallowed Ground about a zillion times when you were younger, and want to see it again, it's on SBS World Movies on Wed, Thu and Fri, and also on SBS On Demand

- I think I can fit 695 MB on this CD-R for the car
- Goodness that's burning quickly, i thought i said 8x
- oh well it finished and verified ok, let's grab it and head out the door
- it's not working, maybe an incompatible file system? But I thought it got it right...

It was a DVD-R.

I have spent the entire day either humming the opening trombone line Ray gave to himself, or the "ba ba dum"s of the women's/trumpet line. Catchy as anything.
This arrangement is extraordinary. If it were Bob Graettinger scoring for Kenton you'd long have been all over it:

About a thousand years ago I saw Sarah Blasko on that tour at Ruby's in Belgrave with her band at the time. Ethereal on some tunes, intense on others, it was amazing. It's so good she went on to big things, but that little show still sticks in my mind.

Gentle nothing.
The webcomic xkcd has elicited many emotions in me over these long years, most often confusion. A gentle tear has not been a common reaction though. Just a few times, including today.

Best wishes Randall (@xkcd.com) and Mrs xkcd for both of your continuing good health.

Gough's famous moment as seen on TV in 1975, 1995 and restored from the original film in 2015. You can read about the restoration at www.nfsa.gov.au/latest/dismi... if you're into that sort of thing, I certainly am.

Also, in other early 90s chart observations, Hothouse Flowers had a number 1, platinum album here without a top 20 single. Genuinely well done to whoever decided to push them to the albums market.
