A thing I think we miss is that the “authoritarian playbook” isn’t a set of instructions authoritarians are reading from, it’s just a list of things that happen when narcissists get too much power.

Shaun King lifting up the murderous Islamic Republic isn’t surprising but still worth noting and remembering.

I don’t know if this is a consensus take but I kinda hate it when the media asks the team who just won the lottery if they’re excited about a their team having a very specific prospect, as if they’ve already picked him. As if they’re entitled to the player.
