Translation for last year PhD students: You want to watch the ARC webpage tomorrow to see who will be looking for postdocs in 2026
ARC says Discovery Projects outcomes will be tomorrow (Tuesday). Linkage Projects (2025, round 1) on Wed. Over past ~year, it's often been at about 11am (Canberra).

My bot will pick up the change to RMS & post immediately.

ARC should email outcomes to lead CIs, but might take an 1hr or so for DPs

🧬 Ever wondered how something as bizarre and vital as the placenta evolved—not just in humans, but across the animal kingdom?

I had a great time chatting about the wild diversity of placentation (think: lizards, sharks, and more) on the latest episode of Tiny Matters.

The Budget should include a massive and historic increase in funding for research. Not only is it needed, but we really should be poaching ever medical and scientific researcher from the US we can. Absolutely perfect timing.
This is horrible to post, but I may as well post it. We are essentially shutting down research operations in my group, which is focused on treatments for pediatric brain cancer. I’m a well funded investigator, and there’s no choice. Science can’t function without the stability of NIH

Detailed Assessor reports are now available in RMS and rejoinders have opened.

Here’s an older thread with suggestions on dealing with assessor reports – especially the #ARC3DayRule – and constructing a rejoinder.

This week the ARC should release Expressions of Interest outcomes for Discovery Projects.

Should be Wed–Fri. They’re not public, so my bot cannot track them.

The ARC should email applicants, and maybe tweet(?), to say outcomes are available in RMS.

RFK says fluoride is toxic, but in 2011 Calgary took fluoride out of drinking water, and the number of children receiving IV antibiotics for dental infections at Alberta Children’s Hospital increased by 700% from 2011 to 2018. Calgary is now bringing back fluoride.
