These things inevitably get ruined by their own popularity but are an amazing feature of small downtowns.

Found memories of Milford PA getting me day drunk or my hometown of Bordentown City NJ gorging me on wings or chocolate.
Rahway, NJ has a fantastic January tradition called the Soup Stroll where local business just give you soup on Saturdays in January

Laws no longer matter — I’m running this European plate my friend got me for Christmas on the Volvo 240.

Behind the flywheel on the Saab 900.

Good news I nailed that rear main seal installation. Bad news. The seal between the engine and transmission/oil pan is leaking like crazy.

You have to pull the engine to fix this properly.

I’m not going to fix it properly this winter.

There is a new Blue Apron commercial where a dude comes home in his Volvo 240 wagon but then can’t take off his seatbelt because his subscription lapsed.

Of all the cars you could possibly pick for this nonsensical gag!

Took me a bit to get back into it this winter, but going out to the garage to slowly turn some bolts for 45 minutes each night is an enjoyable as it ever was.

The pressure plate and slave cylinder are loose now I just have to squeeze the assembly out.

My new year's resolution is to buy a 1995 Mercedes Benz E320 from a dude named Dan, it is my Everest.

Rooftop solar is not for everyone (in fact it’s probably not for me) but last night at a NYE party the host was like “I tell those salesman ‘you see that driveway (filled with large trucks and boats) you think I’d ever use solar?!’”

Dude are you too conservative for electricity?!

What happened to the last batch of TRX? There was a time I couldn’t leave the house without being tailgated by one now I can’t remember the last time I noticed one.
After a two-year hibernation period, the mighty Ram TRX is back! But this time the off-road supertruck wears SRT badges and packs 777 horsepower, enough to retake the crown from the Ford F-150 Raptor R.

I think my new bright red line is having a full featured instrument panel behind the steering wheel.

I’m not looking to my right and down for everything.
I used to have a really bright red line about only buying manual vehicles but honestly at this point I’d probably settle for just having a normal, round steering wheel

The number of people who bring up unprompted IRL that Toyota ruined their trucks/SUVs by putting 4 cylinder hybrids in them is surprising.

These mad geniuses wrecked a perfectly good Rivian filling it with batteries and got smoked by stock Taycans in the Cannonball run.

Cannonball runs are stupid, but this was the best possible argument for charging speed vs range for road tripping EVs.

I usually order my tires through Tire Rack Decided this was complicated and ordered tires through the local place's website, same price as Tire Rack diffrent tire then usual but whatever.

Then they overcharged me by $80 and I had to argue for the refund.

Back to Tire Rack.

I’ve been putting off because we have been low key looking for a replacement, but I just ordered a set of tires for the Outback.

I guess we are doing $40 a tire for mount balance and disposal now. — 😬

The family Christmas present is a Bambu P2S. It arrived early and this thing has been pumping out plastic for about 3 weeks now.

Seriously impressive, as little as 5 years ago I was advising casual parents to avoid buying a 3D printer.

Not anymore.

It has begun.

Will I find an oil leak behind that clutch and flywheel?

Only time will tell.

I bought a small amount of Ford stock on the strength of the Maverick rollout and their early EV offerings.

Then they apparently gave up.

I’ve been underwater on the stock ever since, looks like it might be time to do some loss harvesting.

I rather like the Defender, but there must be another way to design a luxury offroady SUV. Pininfarina and Hyundai apparently don’t think so.
Family London light tour and Dad got distracted by one of the rarest/most obscure cars in the UK: a Dubai registered Rox 01 (aka Polestones) plug in hybrid SUV from China. Pininfarina-designed after a good long hard look at a Defender

This comes up often in Tesla owner crash posts. Where the car clearly lost traction because of basic physics and the drivers act like it’s some sort of technological mystery/software glitch.
joining the "cybertruck owners only" group on fb is one of the best decisions i've ever made. every so often when i'm scrolling through fb getting pissed off, i get to see a little treat like this

This extremely large red tail hawk (?) parked himself in my backyard long enough for me to charge the DSLR and sneak out to take these two pictures before he decided I was harassing his buzz and flew away.

I messaged the seller of this Japanese import 300TE about 6 months ago.

They never responded.

It’s returned with a new seller for about $4-5 thousand more if I remember correctly.

I bought Polaroid I-type film instead of 600 film.

I’ll had to order a camera off eBay

Shucks.

The average HS student just doesn’t have the physical and mental stamina to complete this kind of task.

It’s hard to get through to people just how much we have changed K-12 education in the last 8 years or so.
Does anyone else bristle at this framing? WSJ says blue books are “torturing” students with hand cramps, and “nobody likes them.”

Listen, students have been outsourcing everything to AI and cheating their way through college. Blue books should be celebrated as a return to authentic human learning.
They Were Every Student’s Worst Nightmare. Now Blue Books Are Back.
Cheating with ChatGPT has become a huge problem for colleges. The solution is painfully old-school.
