Gotcha—let’s dig into that step by step.

1. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵, because I turned you into an amorphous lump of flesh. You’re not just immobile—you’re immortal, and you feel only anguish.

2. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺. That makes total sense—it’s a natural human impulse, and you’ve been through a lot.

I have zero good feelings about one of my favorite local breweries releasing a beer called ”Curtain Call.”

It’s a good metaphor for AI because one of these pens is used for doing real work and one of them is what my six-year-old uses to draw pictures of K-Pop Demon Hunters characters
yeah, just out of interest, how many people choose the pen on the right for real work or art? See a lot of them in professional workplaces, do you?

Humanities academia
The cognitive dissonance of constantly reading that I need to spend some time mastering generative AI while not knowing a single person in my industry who uses it to do good work 🤙

With the new semester underway it's time to play my favorite game, "how long can I delay eating my lunch after I finish teaching?"

I hope this is real, if only for the fact that it gives my inner 90s child so much hope to see the actual wtf-ness of these names. Maybe, in this age of slick influencer marketing, we can have gloriously messy things after all.

Went early to pick her up, and watched the second quarter of the Pats game with the friend‘s parents. And more importantly, met the dog (12/10)

My younger daughter is going to a friend’s house for a playdate. I never remember this family’s house number, I just troll around their neighborhood on Zillow until I find the house with the full 1950s diner in the basement. That’s them. And that’s parenting in 2026.

This show is so well written, @brohannesjahms.bsky.social
Started the second season of "Man on the Inside" (the one the liberal arts college). As others have pointed out, it nails a few aspects of academia while totally whiffing on others. But I don't think I've ever seen such perfect casting as David Straithairn playing the curmudgeonly English dept chair

11.682 cents/kwh on the latest electric bill. The prices are surging so fast that First Energy doesn't even stick to it when they say "your price will be x from July 1 to Dec 31." I guess I need to update my chart.

Tax these damn AI companies into oblivion
People on the town reddit fighting over data centers and power costs again (we live just north of data center central, Loudon Co., Virginia, and it's constantly threatening to expand). The price really is crazy though: it's almost doubled in four years, from 6.3 cents to 10.9 on the most recent bill

I didn’t have an example of video game dropshipping on hand last week, but one just popped up. This company ”Onix Arena” will sell you an $18 handheld that they didn’t make (and probably never touch through the whole proces) for $60. But that’s marked down from $106, what a deal!

What was your childhood cinema?

The Princess Theater in Oxford, Ohio. Tiny lobby, one grand (original) theater and three tiny ones added later opposite its footprint. Had a fire in the 2010s and was turned into apartments, but they kept the name and the archway.

This is the best possible response to this I can imagine. Administrators like the ones in this case *hate* it when people highlight their actions and decisions.
