A day late and a little out of left field, but I started thinking about the 1890s sex toy inventors from Satisfaction Guaranteed the other day and I ended up writing a little sequel in which all of Pete's Ed-related dreams come true. Ed/Pete/Lucius. #OFMDfic

(Stede is into Blackbeard's 7, an 80s BBC sci-fi TV series, and he drags Ed into fandom :D)
"Ed!" Stede shouts from their bedroom. "What?" Ed shouts from the living room, where he is double-checking his own suitcase. They have a weekend planned with their Blackbeard's 7 friends. Stede had arranged the rental of two cottages that could house ten people each, and there's fourteen of them in total. Ed's looking forward to rewatching episodes, discussing them, and getting some new fic ideas. "Can you help me zip up my suitcase?" Ed smiles as he heads for the bedroom. Stede is on his knees by his bright teal suitcase, which is overflowing with clothes and little gifts for his friends. "Maybe take out some clothes?" he suggests, already anticipating Stede's outraged gasp. "Ed!" Stede grabs a pair of socks from his suitcase and throws them at him. They hit him square in the chest, then land on the floor. "I can't believe you'd suggest such a thing! See if I let you beta-read the CaptainBeard PWP I'm writing for Kinkmas." "Which prompt?" Ed immediately asks, because he's seen that list and he knows Stede. Stede has written a few explicit fics by now, but he prefers writing longer stories with lots of action and hurt/comfort. Ed loves beta-reading them. "And do you need any help researching anything?" Stede's smile turns smug. "I was thinking double penetration!" "Oh? I thought you said it was gonna be CaptainBeard?" Ed knows Stede loves the Blackbeard/Captain Bonnet ship, but if Stede wants to branch out... "It is!" Stede tells him. "Remember that episode in season three where they find that cloning facility?" "Yes?" Then Ed realises what Stede is working on, and he's intrigued. And possibly a little turned on. "Wait, are you writing two Blackbeards and one Captain Bonnet, or two Captains Bonnet double-teaming Blackbeard?" Stede's cheeks flush. "I'll tell you if you help with my suitcase." "Fine." Ed sits down next to him. "But whichever one you're writing, I'm writing the other one." "Deal!"

“I can’t believe he’s going to space.” Mary drops the papers she’s grading in a huff. She and Doug are drinking coffee at Mary’s house, like they’ve done every Sunday since Stede left for NASA training. Doug smiles at Mary over his cup. “I dunno, I kind of dig it? It’s cool he’s going for what he wants.” “What about what I want?” Mary squeezes her eyes shut. “What I need? What I … crave.” When Mary opens her eyes again, Doug is looking at her with an entirely different expression. “Tell me,” he says, “Tell me what you crave.” They’re sitting at a corner of the dining table, coffees almost cold by now. Doug hesitates. “I’m sorry, if that’s…” Mary turns toward him, and before she can stop herself, before she can ramble about work or art or some other innocuous thing that will break the tension and let the electricity between them fizzle out — she places a firm hand on Doug’s wrist and meets his gaze. “I think you already know.” Mary is close enough that she can hear Doug’s breathing change. He surges across the space between them and plants a kiss directly on her waiting lips. Mary’s sense of propriety has been a little frayed since Stede left, but the press of Doug’s lips on hers absolutely rips it in half. She reaches up to touch his face as he threads his fingers into her hair, and they’re necking like teenagers right there in the dining room, in the uncomfortable straight-backed chairs Mary inherited from her mother. It’s ridiculous, it’s insane, and it’s the best thing that’s ever happened. They break away for a moment, breaths matching, foreheads touching. With Stede, Mary felt like a burnt-out ember. With Doug, she can feel herself start to glow.
