I have several opinions about Stranger Things S5 but things I liked:
- The solution to the love triangle is 'neither' and the girl stays friends with both guys
- The queer love story is about loving yourself first of all
- Friendship being so important to everyone

I think some of the pressure some writers (and artists, probably?) feel comes from how freeing and open fandom can be about sex, sexuality and kink.
So you've got some fans who, especially if they're AFAB, have often grown up in a society where sex is bad, where there's slutshaming (1/ )

I've talked to multiple authors, both on and off the podcast, who have said stuff akin to "I didn't want to add in an explicit scene but I felt pressure to do so" sometimes that pressure was readers, sometimes knowing kudos would be lower if they didn't include an E rated scene. 1/
