Extraordinarily corrupt. I watched FCC chair Brendan Carr's full interview on Hannity. Carr basically said straight out that coverage of Trump he deems overly hostile can be decreed contrary to the "public interest," and thus grounds for yanking licenses:

IMHO The continued attack on Soros is hard to square with the Administration’s protestations that it’s against anti-semitism (its justification for attacking Harvard and other academics institutions). Pick a lane. Or is the plan to say you’re against anti-semitism until it’s useful to engage in it?

the thing about “democrats should take popular cultural positions” is that what constitutes popular is a function of an interaction between the public and elites. if a faction of elites start screaming about a vulnerable minority and another faction says they have a point, this shapes the public.
