Hey folks, for a series of boring logistical reasons, we need to start numbering our Interim Season (short stories by one reader) as "Season Two" in your pod catchers. Our next full anthology series will begin as "Season Three".

But it's just numbers and signifiers. It holds no inherent meaning.

I have been informed that there’s another important holiday in October, so please feel free to listen to our latest episode as a Halloween episode as well.

If you listened to this story last night, you listened to it on exactly the date and time it took place in 1962. This means something.

For the rest of you, there’s still time to enjoy @purpurinastitch.bsky.social reading a cozy small town tale of alternate history and philosophical disagreements.

If you’re interested in more on the same theme, this story originally appeared in the anthology “shadows of Main Street,” from the folks who would found @badhandbooks.bsky.social, with an absolute rogue’s gallery of other contributors.

For that most important of October holidays, we have a very special episode… to mark the anniversary of the end of the Cuban Missile Crisis, of course.

We beg to differ.

If you’re looking for some horror fiction to listen to and you haven’t checked out @observableradio.com, I’d recommend you give us a listen. We’re posting short stories every month as we chip away at season 2, and some folks said season 1 gave them nightmares :)

Without Myst (and more importantly, Riven) Observable Radio would be a very different beast.

Bring me… blue pages.
Thirty-two years ago today, Myst was released.
Happy Birthday, little guy!

Did you know we have a YouTube channel where our episodes exist in video form? Once upon a time our host hopefully posted every episode as a video, but now the onus falls on Cameron, which means it’s behind.

However we should be caught back up in a couple of weeks, as we stagger the backlog!

When I first started this story it was absolutely about a Capgras delusion, but I think it’s so much more interesting as an open-ended folk horror/suburban fairy tale. Plus, fucked up deer.
