Here's Week 12's Performance Against Strength of Schedule (PASS; alt text for more)

This week provides a chance for several of the more objectively efficient teams to rebound. If they can't, they'll likely see playoff hopes dwindle quickly. #cfb #cfp

The CFP rankings are out. Are they more or less aligned with on-field performance, SoS, or win % than in years past?

A couple of crushing defeats among the more predictable trendlines bring us into Week 11 of Performance Against Strength of Schedule (PASS).

We're guaranteed another big swing as Top Ten BYU and Texas Tech go head to head.

After running the numbers of the week, the answer is an emphatic yes

College football PASS was hit or miss this weekend, seeing top 10 teams lose or sputter (as did the AP ranks).

Bright side: again outperformed the polling Top 25, and projected wins like New Mexico over UNLV and Oklahoma over Tennessee.

ESPN, what is this bit? Are you making fun of Utah people for not being able to spell or know anything about an opponent? Strange.

A backup catcher who only catches feelings
There should be a guy one each team whose only job is to fight. Like when the queen chooses a knight to fight in her name.

Feels like plenty of upsets today even if a couple comebacks favored the higher ranked team. Coming in, I had Duke/Clemson as the closest score of the day so that's looking pretty good!
November 2, 2025 at 12:08 AM
The higher-ranked PASS team won over 81% of last week's games (43/10). Will this week be more upset-heavy?

This. This is the good stuff. Mainlining.
When a best-of-7 postseason series with the 2-3-2 format has been tied after 4 games, the team playing G5 on the road – before returning home for G6-7 – has gone on to win that series 35 of 61 times (57.4%)

In any best-of-7 series tied 2-2, the G5 winner has won the series 46 of 68 times (67.6%)

Just Knick things (uncommon rarity, not rare, or mythic or legendary).
Knicks scored fewer points in the 2nd half than they did in the 2nd quarter.

Week 10 objective performance rankings are here! In Week 9 the higher ranked team won over 81% of the time across all games.

I agree with Matt on Kansas. I had the Jayhawks picked to finish 7th in the Big XII the past 2 years, and they finished 7th and 6th. This year player efficiency per minute of their updated roster is back up at the top of the conference after two down years on preseason paper.

And if the argument becomes that you're keeping him out not because of gambling but because of the *other* character stuff it gets even more complicated!
I'm tired of the Pete rose convo in general but if you're keeping him out of the hall for betting on baseball...you're going to have to start having some complicated conversations

And just like that, NM St. ties the game with under 2 minutes remaining. Living up to the billing!
And kicking off soon, #95 Missouri State @ #100 New Mexico State is incredibly close. The two are separated by just 0.067 PASS+ (Performance Against Strength of Schedule)

Two more CUSA football games tonight, both even closer matchups in performance margins than last night's WKU/La. Tech OT game. First:

#136 MTSU @ #131 Delaware. The Blue Hens just kicked a FG to go up 17-14 in the 2nd.

Read this in the Disco Elysium Conceptualization voice and tell me it isn't perfect
The men have sold their guitars and bought turntables. The men have sold their turntables and bought guitars. The men are buying a synthesizer and an arpeggiator and are throwing their computers out the window because they want to make something real. The men want to make a Yaz record.
People act like all the men are gone. The men are attending protests. The men are putting together scooters for their kids. The men are getting a set of turntables for the first time. The men are buying Nikes. The men are getting super into noir. They're not Nazis and they're fine. Keep your freaks.
