PEF is a labor union representing more than 55,000 professional, scientific and technical workers in New York State. We are a national affiliate of AFT & SEIU. President Wayne Spence has led the union since 2015.
The Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act expands the independence of Nurse Practitioners, allowing them the chance to practice without needing to seek relationships with physicians or hospitals first if they have practiced over 3,600 hours. However, that could sunset in June 2026.
