It's outrageous that Republicans in Congress have moved to stop federal funds for heating assistance, literally leaving families in the cold as temperatures drop.

Mayor Adams’ vetoes are yet another rejection of policies that would directly benefit working class New Yorkers.

Instead of supporting bills to promote pay equity, protect tenants, and strengthen accountability, he’s chosen to block progress.
Instead of advancing legislation to tackle affordability, inequality, and ensure the delivery of essential services, Mayor Adams is spending his final days in office blocking policies that benefit working people.

The Council will continue to stand up and deliver for New Yorkers.

This is a devastating loss.

Firefighter Patrick Brady embodied the courage and selflessness of @fdny.bsky.social, risking everything to keep his fellow New Yorkers safe. Our city owes him a great debt of gratitude.

My heart is with his family, friends, and all who loved him.

Encouraging news, but it shouldn’t take a ruling from a federal judge to prevent American children and families from going hungry.

Thank you to our Labor Strong Coalition for your exceptional leadership on behalf of the workers, families, and communities of our city!

The work of our historic New York City Council to create a more equitable future would not be possible without your consistent and unwavering support.

Tonight’s results are disappointing but not surprising given the Mayor’s misleading ballot language, which deceived voters about what these proposals truly do. The lack of accountability for abuses of mayoral charter revisions exposes a continued threat to our democracy that the State must address.
Mayor Adams’ proposals permanently change the city constitution to weaken democracy and take away communities’ power to secure more affordability and public goods from developers and the City. This will last beyond the next mayor, leaving us without democratic checks and balances.

Congratulations to Mayor-elect @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social on your historic victory!

We need a more affordable and equitable city for all, especially underserved communities. The turnout in this election is an encouraging sign of civic engagement we must build upon for progress.

After three years of organizing, @nydnunion.bsky.social has won a contract!

The Council is proud to stand with them, passing the “Too Tough to Die” resolution led by @cndelarosa.bsky.social in support of their fight.

We need affordability that reaches all New Yorkers, not just some. Mayor Adams' ballot proposals 2, 3, and 4 take away communities’ power to demand equitable public goods and deeply affordable housing, undermining our pursuit of true affordability.
Ballot proposals won’t ‘fast-track’ more housing
In New York City’s election, voters will encounter ballot Proposals 2, 3, and 4 that claim to create and speed up housing development.

This ruling is a major victory for the millions of New Yorkers and working families who rely on SNAP. No one should be denied the right to put food on the table.

Thank you to the cities and organizations fighting to protect Trump's cruel attempt to block food assistance.
In a major victory, a court ruled the Trump administration must use emergency funds to provide food stamps to Americans.

No one should choose between paying bills and buying groceries.

We'll continue our lawsuit to fight for our families and the services they deserve.
