The Apatow doc on Mel Brooks is so wonderful. I can only imagine what it must have been like to be part of that group of geniuses. His movies need to be released in theaters again because we need that communal release and laughter.

When I scroll thru my cable listings, one tv station consistently airs “Contagion” a “Day after Tomorrow” and it strikes me as a warning (but I’m afraid we are already there).

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

So @nbcnews.com is just letting Trump lie?! Why do an interview with him? Is there a contest for the last interview before he croaks?

Jeff Bezos' wedding last summer cost somewhere around $50M. That, alone, could have saved all 300 positions cut today at The Washington Post for a year.

Of course, he wouldn't have to choose. He could do both because he's worth $250B, which is nearly the GDP of New Zealand.

Epstein, Thiel, and their buddies figured out, probably from observing the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet Union, that it's *much* easier to make a $ killing off preying upon a collapsing economy, than off a functioning, growing one.
This email between Epstein and JD Vance’s tech oligarch benefactor Peter Thiel where they plan to “collapse” society to create investment opportunities for themselves seems… not great

(They also met with the UN ambassador to Russia together)

Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.

I must be an optimist because I keep thinking that this hell we are going through will inspire young people to go into public service and legal (even law enforcement) careers for all the right reasons.

You can test new tech ideas using the Seinfeld Test

Would the product eliminate the plot of an episode? (Google maps, cell phones, paypal, battery packs)

Good tech.

Would the product inspire new Seinfeld plots? (NFTs, AI chatbots, crypto currency, blindboxes, metaverse land sales)

Bad tech.
