People Keir Starmer has hired, then fired for stuff he knew about when he hired them, a thread and a list:

1. Tulip Siddiq, given the economic crime brief, despite her aunt being PM of Bangladesh and mired in corruption allegations. Siddiq herself had faced questions over London properties.

The Conservative leader in the London Assembly, Susan Hall, appears to agree with Jim Ratcliffe's nonsense that the UK has been 'colonised by immigrants'.

If the Conservatives want to appeal to London - it's time they threw Susan Hall out of their party.

I see no reason not to look at the online gambling and prediction market craze as a new opioids crisis.

It will wreak havoc on lower-income Americans and leave a trail of destruction and despair in its wake.

Simon McDonald may have had his faults, but I never remember him as sexist. This is same man who brought down Boris Johnson, by revealing Johnson knew about MP Pincher’s misconduct. It’s legit to ask if he’s right to speak out again now - but it suggests his concerns are genuine and substantive.
🔥 "Government source" to The Times hits back at Simon MacDonald over Antonia Romeo:

"This is a desperate attempt from a senior male official whose time has passed but spent their career getting Britain into the mess it finds itself in today."

just heard another story of xenophobic bullying ("you're an illegal, just wait, you'll be deported soon enough") at a London secondary school. anecdotally it seems that this sort of thing is on the rise, is anyone collecting data on it?

Sometimes very hard not to feel like the rest of the country has abandoned Minnesota. We STILL have ICE everywhere. Our schools, businesses, and economy are in profound crisis. But without Bovino here throwing tear gas, much of the country seems to not care at all what’s being done to us.

Mum has turned 87 last week. It's been two years since moving care homes which was a traumatic experience. She's very happy and settled now and walks fairly well. I noticed the care home has slightly changed the layout, encouraging her to move to a more central part of living room.
