Billionaires can’t draw, dance, sculpt a statue, sing, build a house, knit a shawl, deliver a child, or articulate a coherent point of view. All they can do is make lots of money. Every relationship in their lives is entirely transactional.

It’s no wonder billionaires want to buy our worship.

ICE point gun at father in front of son—drag him out of truck by smashing window.

"Please put the gun down! That's my dad!" son cries. "You're hurting him... Look he's bleeding!"

"Why did you break window? He wasn't doing anything."

One of the reasons we need universal basic income plus higher taxes on the rich is to boost the spending power of the bottom 60% and in doing so, reorient our economy around the needs of the majority of people who comprise it. As inequality has increased, our economy has adjusted to meet rich wants.

Around 70% of the U.S. economy depends on consumer spending. As wealth concentrates in the richest 10%, the rest of America can’t afford to buy enough to keep the economy running.

This is a huge problem — and even America’s most powerful CEOs are starting to sound the alarm.
Our Economy Is in Danger. Here’s Why

when I was in law school everyone knew that joining the federalist society was like getting tsa precheck for a clerkship
I’m a law prof & a YLS grad and anyone familiar w elite law schools knows it is beyond laughable to describe these places as radicalism hotbeds. Cruz knows this, as does JD Vance. But they assume that their marks are too unsophisticated to know it too. It’s condescending as hell.
Ah yes. Harvard Law School in the early 1990s, well known for its Communist professors.

One of the most pathetic examples of corporate capture I've ever seen.
CFPB is requiring bank examiners to read a "humility in supervisions" pledge before any examination begins, basically apologizing for having the temerity to monitor compliance.
Here's the pledge.

Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

I’ve been in a room with Putin. He calls Ukrainians “Russians with accents.” His real fear isn’t NATO expansion, it’s democracy expansion. It shatters his entire argument for dictatorship at home. Because if Ukrainians embrace freedom, Russians may demand the same.

It is official. Besides being a felon 34 times over, an adjudicated rapist, alleged child rapist, a convicted fraud, Donold J. Trump is now listed on an official Capitol Police Report as someone who threatened a US Congressional member, Rep. Houlahan, and is being investigated by the Capitol Police.
SARGENT: You said when you went to Capitol Police, you actually filed a threat complaint against the president?

HOULAHAN: Yes, our office did

@gregsargent.bsky.social: Your office wrote in "Donald J Trump" as person delivering the threat?

H: The president

Instead, they defended Trump-and attacked the Dems

FOR TELLING OUR TROOPS TO FOLLOW THE CONSTITUTION

Apparently-according to the GOP-if you now follow the law you are committing sedition
Houlahan: "I'm just continually stunned by the fact the commander in chief, the president, has called for my death. And that's something that should be chilling for everybody, and everybody should be worried about their safety in this nation when the president can yield that sort of statement."

Brace Yourself for … Full. Blown. Panic.
The president is feeling cornered and lashing out. It will get ugly—and dangerous.

Now that MBS is back in town and being wined and dined by Trump, Musk, Bezos and other tech billionaires?

Just to review, in the last week the President of the United States:

- Refused to condemn the rise of Neo-Nazis in his party
- Tried to block the release of further evidence he sexually abused children
- Encouraged the execution of Congressional Democrats

Those are just factual statements.

They lied about it. All of it. A thug cop shot an unarmed woman five times without justification, boasted about it to his colleagues, and then this administration tried cover it all up by arresting her and charging her with felonies.
Absolutely incredible; after shooting Marimar Martinez 5 times and arresting her on claims that she rammed them and pulled a gun, prosecutors have now moved to dismiss ALL criminal charges against her and her codefendant.
New: the govt has moved to dismiss its assault case against Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, two people accused of "box[ing] in" a Border Patrol vehicle in Chicago on Oct. 4.

One agent shot Martinez, with evidence presented to the court that he later bragged about in text messages.
