Medical racism is not a headline, it's a reality.

A Black mother in active labor at Dallas Regional Medical Center was ignored by a nurse for over 30 minutes, and that could've cost her life.

What will happen when healthcare is out reach?

This is why my daughter, right out of grad school, is currently living in Ireland. She doesn’t want to be in the US, and as much as we miss her, I support her decision completely.
"In 2025, 40% of women aged 15 to 44 say they would move abroad permanently if they had the opportunity. The current figure is four times higher than the 10% who shared this desire in 2014, when it was generally in line with other age and gender groups."
Record Numbers of Younger Women Want to Leave the U.S.
The percentage of younger women in the U.S. who express a desire to migrate permanently has surged in the past decade.

Illegible, vague, poorly punctuated emails are a power move across industries - I’ve worked in multiple places where staff had to gather around to crowdsource the intent of an email from the head of the organization like we’re trying to divine meaning from a Greek oracle.
Fast & sloppy emails are the academic equivalent of the tech bro black hoodie

A signal that you’re too important & in-demand to write long, carefully thought out and edited emails
best example I've seen so far: Elisa New (Larry Summers's wife) emails Epstein seemingly asking for help in getting an invitation to Serena Williams; he immediately tells her it needs edits, offers a useless suggestion, and in doing so reveals he hasn't actually read it

I'm calling @andykimnj.bsky.social and @booker.senate.gov this morning and every morning afterwards to let them know I will not give a single dollar, make a single phone call, write a single postcard, knock on a single door until Schumer is no longer the leader, and ask what they're doing about it
Chuck Schumer must be replaced as leader since he cannot keep his caucus in line.
America is in the midst of a Republican-made health care crisis—a crisis so severe, so urgent, and so devastating for American families that I cannot support a continuing resolution that fails to address it.

I am voting NO.

In 2008, a blogger named Curtis Yarvin called for a future president to kill foreign aid programs as part of a plan to replace democracy with dictatorship.

Now 600,000 people are dead—and 14 million will die by 2030, according to the Lancet. This is the running death toll of tech fascism.
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

this was for a colorado measure guaranteeing universal free lunch for kids. funny how a short two-column table can say so much in so little space.
This is how it looked on the ballot.
Clear and easy to understand.

The news about Teen Vogue is terrible, the latest in the long list of corporate-owned media layoffs, closures, and shifting tone and coverage.
There are so many great independent outlets, a list too long but this is a fantastic starter pack. PLEASE pick a few & support them if you're able.

It has now stopped in Cambodia — 40 hours — and Laos — 44 hours.

If it keeps following the route it did for ICE last month, there will be one more stop in Vietnam.

Think about everything you’ve done since about 4am on Friday. That’s how long these people have been shackled on a plane.

I think we are way, WAY past the point where we can assume the NYT is operating in good faith. It’s so bleak.
Did the New York Times have an editorial meeting where they said something like “these are trustworthy people, we should take their word, put it headlines, that’s good journalism.”

Did they go so far as to say “we should help the Trump administration sell this action”?

Or do they just sorta do it?

Democrats should be drawing up legislation right now, this very minute, to bar Trump from helping himself to $230 million in taxpayer funds from DOJ. Challenge Republicans to hold a vote on it. Push this so hard in the media that every GOP Senate and House candidate is pressed to comment on it.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.
