While $12M per year for Pre-K is great, this is not new revenue. It is a mechanism to capture funds that otherwise would accrue to the County. NSEA supports Pre-K and if you want more Pre-K funding, just provide it directly. You don't need a corporate giveaway.
NSEA opposes AB5, a $1.6B tax giveaway to Hollywood studios. The state cannot afford this handout. These tax credits drain Nevada’s general fund, which is the same fund that supports students and educators. Every dollar spent on corporate welfare is a dollar not spent funding our schools. #NVLeg

After the #NVLeg passed a $2 per pupil increase, NSEA locals negotiated contracts across the state. Most locals asked for modest increases to help keep pace with the cost of living (up over 3%). Districts responded there was no way for them to offer COLAs with no increases from the state.
