England seemed to him to be nothing but horrors and misery now. The very shapes of the trees were like frozen screams.
Help! We have finally broken into this 1980 jukebox and it has some life in it. However, it only plays a single song then just stops. Anybody know anything about these contraptions?

Age verification. I saw John Craven reading the news about John Lennon's death. I only had one LP at that point and it was a Beatles album that my gran had bought me.

#NowPlaying I am loving this album. A 1970 private set of demos by a guy who was heavily involved in the early days of what would later become Pink Floyd. A lovely mixture of 60s psych pop and whimsical English folk. I'm hoping that @scribblerrob.bsky.social knows a little bit more about him.

Does anybody happen to have a Rough Trade vinyl copy of Virginia Astley's From Gardens Where We Feel Secure that they are prepared to sell? Has to be a minimum of VG/VG. Genuinely asking for a friend.

Small Prophets. What a lovely opening episode. Gentle, strange, funny and so full of warmth. God bless the BBC.

I'm no Labour voter, but this is fucking ridiculous.
it will really be something if the Epstein Files unseat a British Prime Minster who isn't in them, and not the American President who was Epstein's best friend.

Post a banger that isn't in English. Challenge accepted. This is the very definition of a banger.

I haven't seen anyone mention this. Have I got my facts wrong? I'm sure this was their debut album. Anyway, it's great. Their next album was even better but not many people seemed to like it.

OK, I was obviously being a bit overdramatic earlier, we've actually got quite a few decent albums from that period.

The funny thing about this era of music is that I was the manager of a Virgin Megastore throughout this period and it was so stressful and awful that I completely lost interest in new music. Pretty sure that I don't even own 5 debut albums from back then.

Listening to certain artists can sometimes feel like being invited into their minds for a while. Mayo Thompson, David Berman, Skip Spence and the like are all excellent hosts. I feel like Michael Hurley is definitely in the same league. Songs that just radiate charm & warmth.

Today's exciting postal delivery. A 1973 7" EP by the brilliant teenage Welsh language band Sidan. The title vaguely translates to 'Welsh, You Are'. Having been born in Wales in 1973, this is a special find.

I often worry that I'm running out of amazing albums that I don't know but 2026 has already brought me

Ray Brooks
Stan Hubbs
Michael Hurley
Keith Noble
Edu Lôbo
Nara Leão
Shelagh McDonald's debut
Pete Jolly
France Gall - 1968

Obviously, I'm now penniless, but happy. Keep 'em coming.

I forgot all about this album until this afternoon. It is just ridiculously great. Like Scott Walker had he been born as a woman in Northern Ireland.

It's my wife's @alsalv.bsky.social 50th birthday this summer & we have just bagged tickets to see Belle & Sebastian (doing the whole of If You're Feeling Sinister) supported by Saint Etienne! It's only 11 miles from our home and will be performed in a natural outdoor amphitheatre. How exciting!

I am particularly pleased to have got hold of the Keith Noble & Shelagh McDonald albums. Neither are particularly valuable, just very hard to find. Thanks Joel.

I am on day two of an argument on the Next Door app about the correct use of bells on bicycles, specifically on cycle paths & shared paths. It has become, ahem, quite a ding dong.

Cassie heard a noise in the kitchen and stood like a meerkat for over 2 minutes. She has a great leopard belly.
