there were two middle infielders in 2025 with 500+ PA and five HR or fewer: Chase Meidroth and Xavier Edwards

24 middle infielders did that in 1976.
the White Sox infield has a little bit of everything

Chase Meidroth-Luisangel Acuña middle infield would be straight out of 1973

A Munetaka Murakami-Colson Montgomery left side would be straight from 2073

I think Vic Caratini is one of the most underrated players in the game.

gonna guess a 29 yo Bo will get more than 6/158 next winter if he has even a halfway decent season so can’t really blame him for taking that
The Phillies had agreed to Bo Bichette’s request for a 7-year, $200 million deal last night and believed they would sign him until the Mets swooped in with their 3-year, $126 million offer after losing out in in the Kyle Tucker sweepstakes.

there’s a saying in soccer: it’s a simple game where 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes, and at the end, the Germans always win.

can be applied to the MLB offseason now: it’s a simple time where 30 teams chase stars for 5 months and at the end, the Dodgers sign everybody.

Gotta say I find it a bit odd the org that churns out Jack Dreyers and Anthony Bandas for fun every year has suddenly decided to invest heavily in what is famously the most volatile free agent demographic.

Ken Rosenthal with the groundbreaking news that the Reds like Schwarber but probably won’t offer him as much as the Phillies. What would we do without such insight

Teams just pay for Ks. It’s the most predictable, reliable way to prevent runs and being able to miss bats with spin is something that ages better than nearly anything else—velo can wane but wicked break can last forever.

Been thinking about this and the other words to describe his tenure/ethos that come to my mind are “dogmatic” & “rote”.

The job demands a creative element to set it apart from just hitting “accept” on every +EV decision in a model. Has he run the O’s any differently than a naive BTV model would?
Mike Elias might be the most hyperrational executive in MLB history when it comes to pitching—for better and for worse. He’s been in charge of the Orioles for seven full years now and he’s never: 1) signed a pitcher to a guaranteed multi-year contract; or 2) drafted a pitcher with a top-50 pick.

The year is 2072. Darkness blots out the sun. It’s November and a crisp 92 degrees in NYC. José Ramirez just place 3rd in the AL MVP race, extending his record to 29 third place finishes.

You could argue Sánchez had a better season than Skenes straight up, so the unanimous vote is kinda puzzling to me.

teaching myself python for professional reasons (always used R) and thought the best way would be recreating my previous work and somehow I ended up accidentally making a version of SEAGER less biased by hitters’ intrinsic raw power? lmao

Can’t lie, I kinda love that Snell did that.
