Me: automatically wonders how *this* SCOTUS might view Vance's argument if it were in front of them.

May as well go ahead and change "could" to "will jeopardize certain ballots."

Sure, Trump is an idiot, but the supporting cast are methodical.
The Postal Service is no longer guaranteeing when it will postmark mail, which could jeopardize some ballots that arrive after Election Day.

fr, yesterday, I kept thinking, in a b-movie voice, "it's quiet.. too quiet," bc we just don't get days off like that. Not in months.

I wondered what cartoonishly disastrous breaking news this morning would bring.
This image is real btw. It looks like a photoshopped joke but it’s real.

To me, this sounds like the first tangible sign of things going wrong for Trump’s (non) plan.

But I’m a former intelligence analyst and this a glass half empty kind of guy.
VP Delcy Rodriguez, whom Trump indicated earlier today was collaborating with the US government, is live on television right now.

Earlier reports that she's in Russia are false. She's in Caracas with the rest of the cabinet.

"You shouldn't run this if you didn't try a certified letter"

~Bari Weiss.. probably.
“You are not entitled to a response from us, or anyone, ever,” Department of Education spokesperson Madison Biedermann wrote after our reporter repeatedly asked agency officials for comment to ensure fairness and accuracy.
Our Reporters Reached Out for Comment. They Were Accused of Stalking and Intimidation.
Our journalists reach out to people they’re writing about to ensure fairness. But in this environment, they’ve found their efforts to do so are more likely to be vilified than appreciated.

So, basically, "not as long as they understand that their troops *are our* troops."
Asked by the NY Post if “US troops [will] be on the ground helping run the country,” Trump said: “No, if Maduro’s vice president — if the vice president does what we want, we won’t have to do that.”

Exclusive | Trump tells Post that US troops won’t be in Venezuela if Maduro VP ‘does what we want’: ‘We have a second wave’
“We’re prepared,” Trump said. “You know, we have a second wave that’s much bigger than the first wave.”

CBweisS has found the real lede that other - non US loving - outlets are scared to run.

Competitors are too busy hand-wringing about archaic paperwork like the Constitution, instead of loving America harder.

THREAD: I'll fact-check all the viral misinformation about the US military operation in Venezuela in this thread

This image, purporting to show the US military arresting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, is AI-generated.

According to Google's SynthID detector, it was created using Google AI.

If you thought he was gonna have a restrained foreign policy, you are a mark and a dope and your foreign policy analysis should be discounted.

With this Maduro news, ‘m trying to think of other comparably long-range state kidnappings out of hostile or at least unhelpful territory. Mossad grabbing Eichmann. Sorta kinda Skorzeny rescuing Mussolini. Probably some from GWOT but except early on we were mostly killing HVTs not capturing them.

At least publicly, Putin seems opposed to the Trump's actions in Venezuela.

I can't imagine how torn TG must feel right now. I'd imagine it's like watching parents fight for her.

*IMO, most appreciate good journalists. At least, at the same percentage as those in media willing to circle wagons, regardless.

Ex: Look back at Nuzzi B4 she was fully exposed.

Even with a clear pattern (reporter or editor), others in the media-sphere have their own version of LE's "blue shield."
It’s old-fashioned to defend mainstream journalism these days but some of the most reliable reporting from people actually on the ground will be the AP and Reuters the next 24 hours. Your Substack journalist writing takes will be using frontline reporting from them.

People like Bari Weiss want to establish the principle that if you disagree with them, you don’t love America.
Incredible. CBS Evening News announces five new “simple values” — instead of their “38-page handbook” — as they roll out Tony Dokoupil is lead anchor.

One of those values is simply: “We love America and make no apologies for saying so.”
