Jane Fonda is one of the few white liberal celebrities who actually puts actions behind her words. She adopted the daughter of a Black Panther who went to prison. She used money from her workout videos to fund her activism. She supported gay rights in the 1970s.

This quote is soooo relevant right now
Honoring Elizabeth Peratrovich, Tlingit civil rights activist, today and her powerful words: "Asking you to give me equal rights implies that they are yours to give. Instead, I must demand that you stop trying to deny me the rights all people deserve."

Quite the historic moment in Wrangell. It’s not often that we hear an apology from the army or the U.S. government.

Jefferson C. Davis was first Commander of Department of Alaska (governor equivalent), 1867-1870. He killed a fellow Union general during Civil War during an argument but was never disciplined for it. His AK appointment possibly a punishment. Ordered bombardment of Kake in 1869.
