My month of self-indulgence is over.

I started it carried away and became more so. Which fits, as they started brilliantly and became more so.

Anyway, here's 'The Whole Lot(ta History)' Edition.

Signing off... now 🤞for a Deep Cuts Show :)

Okay, so this now looks a lot like the Slippin’ Jimmy thing from Better Call Saul: walk into the bar then do a flying header into the fire extinguisher, and phone your lawyer. Again, it’s a nexus of: well-connected wingnut cranks, the Times newspaper and billionaire legal funding.

Just glance at Minnesota to see where this leads.

"At the moment they're hamstrung by human rights laws, by health and safety laws, by all sorts of needless and obstructive bureaucracy"

These cars should be banned in the UK, there is no reason for them to exist.

A fair way of ensuring we tax road use would be to tax by car weight as well as emissions - with cars this heavy taxed into oblivion.

Two days late, who gives a fuck.

Genuinely, imho, the best UK no.1 single by a British artist in the last 20 years.

this is bleakly funny, but also - people at the NYT, BBC News etc DO think it's an exciting time for politics, that's really one of the fundamental causes for this, they think it's a fucking parlour game
Twice this week when meeting a new person I've gotten an excited "Wow, it must be an exciting time to be a political scientist!" and both times I've answered "Not really. That's like telling someone it's an exciting to be a surgeon when there's a 63 car pileup on the highway."

The VCs bros have convinced themselves they are on some moral crusade. They will be behind the scenes trying to cling to power in the midterms and beyond.

Side note, they are also the biggest bunch of dorks

No argument from me, but before we move on to screwing the next dickhead into the leader’s chair, can we pause and ask: how come Britain’s best paid politics-understanders spent over five years telling everyone who would listen this obviously weird dork was a shit hot political operator?

Literally going mad and then subsequently doing irrational and unacceptable things is the side of mental illness that society has not yet started to understand.

The UK version of “Project 2025” by the Reform party includes a British ICE, a concentration camp for 24,000 people, mass surveillance and withdrawing from refugee, anti-torture and anti-trafficking conventions.

It’s on their website. That’s how comfortable fascists are in the UK today.

Nope, it’s been all wagons circled, all guns pointing outwards together since at least the student austerity protests. Elite solidarity needs no sales pitch. What has failed here is the same thing that failed in Johnson’s tenure: it is *embarrassing as fuck*, and that makes everyone look very bad.

What's the outcome that terrifies Labour most in the Gorton by-election?

Reform winning?

Nope. It's the Greens they're most worried about.

They'd prefer Reform to win, rather than the Greens.

This is the problem, I think: the political class did not understand they were insanely lucky to have a straight up genius of the bullshitter’s art coinciding with peak neoliberal expansion, and they assume that can be recreated. Nope! You had your shot with this, and you chose to spend it on wars.
This is what happens when your idea of baseline politics is Tony Blair - a generationally remarkable bullshit artist who for a few years managed to sell exactly this stuff as bold, radical and visionary, a feat nobody can now repeat.

There is only one "highest points given 21" here, and it was me.

My only other scorers being 18 for Lily and 16 for Rosalia, which weirdly is exactly what two others must have given Lux.

Certainly got my calculations right on the single figure albums, i.e. they didn't have a sniff!

The BBC, which should be the best of the best for international reporting for UK audiences, has at least made it the lead item, but look at the false balance!

Minnesota's governor has criticised their account as "nonsense".’
